Hello!
I?ll ask my question first and then give the back story if you?re interested.
How do you remove the barrel of a CZ50/70? I know there is supposed to be a barrel pin somewhere but I?m dammed if I can find it. I purchased a used barrel but it doesn?t have a slot cut for the barrel pin or a slot cut out for the extractor. I planned to locate the pin using the used barrel. Also the breach seems to have a step up and is not smoothed. Does this sound like it?s possibly a new barrel? Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated.
Now here is the short version of my CZ adventure so far?
After several years of prodding, I finally talked my step-father into selling me his CZ50. Out of all the ones I?ve looked over it was pristine. He has a bit of OCD and his collection shows it. So I was eager to take it off his hands. This was to be my first CZ. TO keep this short, the first range trip I got a total of 2 shots from it before I got the dreaded locked up slide. The slide seized as it traveled forward. It would not move either way. On closer inspection I found that the barrel had bulged. Now this could have been due to the ammo as it was suggested that I had a squib on the first round causing the blockage prior to the fatal round being fired. Either way, after to separate gunsmiths told me it was a total loss since there was no way to get the slide off or the cost of their time far outweighed the value of this out dated relic. I decided to have a go at it. Over a couple of months it looked bad as I couldn?t see how I would remove the slide since the bulge was between the end of the slide and end of the barrel. With the help of a rubber mallet, a piece of leather, a deep well socket, two zip-ties and a handy hacksaw I removed the bulge and 1 1/2:? of the barrel that allowed the slide to come free. So I then had a pristine saw off CZ50. Even though that sounds cool to some kid, not so much with a semi-auto pistol...
