Would love info about the Tactical Sport Orange I just bought.
« on: February 01, 2017, 10:52:52 PM »
I just purchased one and am waiting for it to be shipped. Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but that is exactly what I am as it applies to this gun. I have been doing some competition shooting. I presently have a Springfield XDM competition 5.25 that I have modified with various upgrades. I love that gun but I wanted to "step up" to another level in the pistol I will use for competition.  Anytime I have wanted to purchase something for the Springfield, (Holsters, mags, etc.) it is simple just to type in XDM competition and whatever part I am looking for. What words do I use to search for things for this gun. In other words, how will I know what can be purchased that will match this gun? On the CZ website it is called the CZ 75 Tactical sport, but I also see from this section of the forums that this gun fits under the SP-01 and variants category. I hope I make sense and don't seem too ignorant. I am here to learn. I have the Evo Scorpion and have received information about it from this site, but it is easy to look up for things for it. Thanks for any info.

What are you looking for? Like a holster and mag pouches? I imagine your mag pouches should fit the TSO mags just fine assuming you have the spacers. For the holster, DAA sells a holster just for the TSO.

I just purchased a TS Orange as well.  I've had it for a couple of weeks now.  It's tight and accurate out of the box.  I'm still getting used to the safety as all my CZ's up to this point were decockers.

I'm not sure where it fits in the CZ Pistol Clubs forums?

Both CZ Custom and Cajun Gun Works have OEM and upgrade parts available for this gun.  Springer precision has extended mag bases that convert the mags to 20 rounders.

It does have some different internals than the standard 75 series and some that are the same.  The trigger bar, trigger, trigger return spring are specific to the Tactical Sport model.  It's turn key and if it needs anything would be to increase the trigger pull weight.  The recoil spring, sear spring, main springs are standard 75 series items.  The sear is a standard nonfiring pin block from the 75 series parts.

The TS Orange Frame is new, it's similar to the checkmate.  The grips are slightly shorter to fit with the mag well.  Any 75 series grips designed to fit with a mag well should fit.

Holsters are tricky as there is a thumb rest (gas pedal).  DAA does make a magnetic insert for their race master and new alpha x holsters but they are pricey.  I'm sure that you could get a custom kydex holster made with a cutout for the thumb rest.  I think Ghost also makes a holster that works with the TSO.

I'm still dialing in the rear sight with my reloads.  But the sight picture is good and I don't have any reason to upgrade anything.  Dawson Precision makes replacement front sights if needed.

Cheers,
Toby

Ghost "the one" or super ghost should fit for holsters. Most race type magazine pouches should fit with the proper springs/spacers

Which USPSA class can it be used in?

Just holster right now. My main concern is what do I type in when I search for items for this gun. Do I have to type in "CZ tactical sports orange" plus the item I am looking for? I didn't know if it is part of a larger/line/family of CZ that I could search for. For instance, just type in SP-01, P-07, etc. Thanks.

Limited, Limited-10, or, if you are daring, Open.
It all sounded a lot funnier in my head.

Red Hill Tactical makes nice holsters, if you'd rather have a kydex holster as opposed to a race style.

CZ USA got back to me on spring weights included with the TSO:

Quote
The TS Orange has a main spring of 20 lbs. and recoil spring of 16 lbs. installed. The TS comes with two extra main springs and recoil springs. The recoil springs are a 11 lbs. (short spring) and a 13 lbs. (long spring). Main springs are 13 lbs. (short spring) and a 16 lbs. (long spring).

Just FYI.

Toby

I'm not sure but imagine that the main springs are the same.  The recoil spring weights seem more like 9mm than 40.

Call or email czusa and confirm.

Toby

I don't know either,  but Wolff springs commonly list 20# and 16# for both the 9mm and 40 cal in Full Size CZ 75s. They don't list all the specific versions of each pistol model.
CZC or CGW folks would know.

It's a tight fitting Tactical Sports (TS) with modified frame (undercut, checkering, holes for thumb mount/gas pedal), orange grips and base pads and extra parts. The machine work is obviously exceptional when compared to the TS. All the parts from the standard Tactical Sports should interchange. The safeties won't interchange with the older IPSC Standard. There could be an exception, but I can't recall any unique parts off the top of my head.
If you are going to "game" it in USPSA Limited, I think only the recoil spring, magazine capacity (follower, springs and base pads) and possibly grips and trigger (personal preference) need changed. I keep mine as a spare for my modified IPSC Standard (aka Tactical Sports) in USPSA Limited.
I think they are great guns, and possibly the best CZ for the money. My buddy (not a gamer) thought so much of my Orange in 40, he had to buy one in 9 and shoots it about every week. Enjoy it.
