As a visual, here's a cartoon to show what they're talking about. The velocity and chamber pressure (the unit we are REALLY concerned about) are in 1:1 relationship throughout the useful zone. But at some point above Max Load, the 2 metrics separate, and chamber pressure zooms way up while velocity levels off.

So that's why ID and Painter are looking at the change in velocities so closely. If you simply looked at the velocity you would still see increases, but the amount of increase is slowing. One has to realize that chamber pressure has not leveled off, but is in fact racing skyward.

Some of the blown up guns you see are people trying to get 5 more fps velocity. They don't realize that the chamber pressure has meanwhile zoomed to 2X the safe limit.

 ;)

PS. We usually wouldn't show this to just anybody on their first post. You should feel special.  ;D

It does help with my understanding....and the last few posts have helped me understand that I was looking at things a little to black and white.

At first I was really freaked out that my numbers were higher and not lower.....but, I have learned so much in building up this load...setups, chrono setups, sd and es meanings, velocity increases and how much really matters....etc.

Thanks to all for the help and patience!
