Jericho/Baby Eagle users out there???
« on: June 12, 2006, 02:53:40 PM »
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if this is ground that has already been covered ("search" didn't yield anything).
I have a 9mm CZ-75B, love it, but am thinking of ditching it in favor of getting a .45 Jericho/Baby Eagle (I -think- these are the same gun)...
My reasoning is that since I also have a 1911, and am drooling over a SW 625, it would be nice to only have to load one caliber.
I haven't had a chance to look at a CZ97 in the flesh, but have heard that it's enormous (the 75 is just right for me)...

So.... is this madness?
Is the CZ a superior gun?
Would the burning I'd get on trade in be worth it?

Why not look into a .45 EAA witness I think they are the same size frames as the 9s and 40s.

I once passed on a very nice Swede Mauser because I didn't want to add another caliber to the collection.  I won't make that mistake again, I can't find a rifle as nice as that one anywhere.  So, thats how I feel about adding different calibers now.

I do have a Jericho BE 9mm and it is a good pistol but I wouldn't get rid of a CZ to get one.  Save your pennies and have both.  If I'm not mistaken, the Witness in .45 and 10mm use a slightly bigger grip frame.  The 9mm/.40frame isn't big enough for the .45.  Not sure about the Baby Eagle.

According to the EAA web site the Witness steel full size models all have the same length, height, weight and barrel length. And they mention that a Witness can be converted to any of the other calibers. Be it .22, 9mm, .40, 10mm, or .45 so it would seem like they must be all the same frame size.

I have both a 97B and a Jericho 45FS. Both pistols are high quality. My 97B is more accurate for me. The grip on the Jericho is somewhat more suited to a smaller hand, but if I were you I'd wait on a decision until I got to hold both and see which feels better. BTW my Jericho is the older model with the frame mounted safety, I'd have probably passed on the slide mounted safety.
The bold type giveth, the fine print taketh away.

I remember reading recently that EAA just started using one grip size for all guns.  Before, they used two sizes.  Small for 9 and .40, large for 10mm and .45.  I do know that the 10mm EAA is noticeably larger than the Baby Eagle in 9mm.  You would have to call or email Magnum Research to see if they use the same size frame for both.

While I love the feel of the grip on the BE, the feel of the grip on the 10mm EAA is just a tad better and I don't have very big hands.
