97 trigger mods help
« on: February 21, 2017, 08:10:49 PM »
Planning on ordering a 97b . The question is to go to SAO or stay with DA SA  trigger.  Pro and Cons please.  Thank you

What will the main purpose/use for this gun be?

I converted my 97B to SAO as soon as i received it so that it would function identically to my 75B SA. I did the same thing to my P-01 Compact when I received it.

I prefer SAO to DA/SA. I like every trigger pull to be the same pull, from the same distance. If there were a way to easily convert my SIG P229 to SAO (not DA Kellerman), I'd do it to that one also.

If you go the SAO route, I can provide you with a list of the parts I ordered.

Not to sound stupid.  So what is the difference between a SAO and a DASA locked and cocked . Wouldn't the trigger be the same. Or in essence SAO when you want?

If you cock the hammer, yeah it's SA. Obviously if you don't cock the hammer the first shot is DA.

CZ is a little unusual in giving you the choice of having a safety or a decocker on a DA/SA gun.

I've tried to have all my guns operate as similarly as possible. Some are striker-fired, my CZs are SAO with hammers. As it turns out the only gun I own that has a decocker is my first gun ever, the P229.

It's all personal preference.

Got it.

Thank you for your input.  Sounds like what I need is two guns 1 of each. Lol

I dont' shoot IDPA, so I'm not all up on the rules there.  But for USPSA, the only real division you could practically shoot it in would be L10, whereby converting it to SAO would be optimal ? keeping it DA/SA would be fine for the first shot, but it's possible you end up w/ a DA somewhere in the middle of a stage, like an SA light strike (bad round), and that would suck.  Plus, if you want to tease 1911 shooters, you won't be doing it w/ your DA.

I say....SAO for you.

my goal is to shoot against 1911s  in CDP . And maybe 3gun heavy metal division.  If I start cocked and locked  am i on the same playing field?
And the DA  from CGW is so smooth  that it is almost fun. I guess my concern since I cannot get 2 of them. If I go SAO I am limiting my self.

Cool, it seems like you already know what to do then.

OK I have 1 more question.  What is the shooting difference  between the two.  I guess I am asking how it feels . I just cannot picture how a flat hinged trigger feels.
