smaller version of the CZ 97
« on: February 26, 2017, 07:00:38 AM »
I normally carry a full size or large compact handgun. Either a LW Government or commander 1911, if not that then a CZ P-09 or 07, or PCR. Sold my CZ 75BD because, while I liked the gun it was just to heavy so it sat in the safe most of the time.
I looked at getting the 97 at one point but it's just to much of a monster.
So, getting to my question, does anyone think that there is any chance that CZ will ever come out with a slightly smaller, lighter 97? At the moment I just don't have the budget for another gun, however if this were to happen I'd find the money somewhere.

Edit: I sent this question to CZ-USA, if anyone is interested I'll post what they tell me.

Since they upsized things some from the 75 frame, etc., to go .45, it seems unlikely.  Maybe in the clone world where some of them have higher cap mags, there might be some room so squeeze things down a bit in height and length.

I'm not expecting a 2097 super-RAMI BD anytime soon, but it would be cool.

It seem there's an ever-growing demand for CZ from the civilian market, and CZ has tons of military contracts internationally, and they can't turn out the more popular pistols fast enough to satisfy the markets.  It would be a bad business move to stop production of the more marketable pistols so they can retool and produce a .45 compact for a very narrow segment of the market.  I wouldn't expect that to happen.

yea this has been discussed many times. I wouldn't mind seeing a compact 97 but like has been said they can't side track themselves every time a small niche market pops up with all else they have to fulfill.

No, and I think the company may be changing directions slightly with the P10C.

I still want a 97 in 10mm . . . . yeah, I can dream.

I'm not waiting, XDS  3.3 is my next in line. Was thinking Kahr, but it seems the XDS has fewer trips back to the mothership for corrections.

I too liked the 97, but it is just too large for my paw.  So I grabbed an HK45c.  Trigger is not perfect, but after a bunch of dry firing and some range sessions is a good option.  But I would have gladly grabbed a CZ if they made something that worked for me.
