EAA factory registration card
« on: May 15, 2006, 05:25:45 PM »
Hi

I recently went to my local gun shop to see if I could still get a Witness p in .45.  So he pulls out his CDNN catalog, and tells me that they are out.  So he lets me browse his catalog while he helped another costomer.  So after cursing myself in side my own head ( I was debating wether or not to save a little bit more than i had and either get a Glock or Springfield XD in 45acp), i choose a 9mm witness p.  Even though i had 3 full boxes of 45acp in my cabinet (and a SigPro SP2009 9mm, as well).  Best choice I made, since the witness p fits my hand much better than any other gun i have.

Now to my question.  I got with the pistol a "factory registration card".  Even though my FFL got the gun from CDNN, Should i still mail it in?  I'm just wondering, since CDNN is pretty much a closeout warehouse for gun makers/importers, would EAA still recognize the warranty?

Well, on second thought, with the "horrible track record" of EAA Coustomer Service, I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the hassle to register the warranty,  But i would like to know if i should still mail it in, even if it's a formality.

The EAA Question is enough to make me consider rethinking about a Witness 45 later on, and just save my money for some other brand... (all in unison now,,,,, CZ97??)

One more thing... the address to eaa is a Po Box 1299 in Sharpes FL 32959,  is this still valid?

Go ahead and mail the warranty card to EAA.  It will at least get you on the warranty list if you ever do need some service work.  The address is still good.  If you do have to call EAA, Sharon is your best bet for friendly help.  The warranty card is for the first retail owner of the gun, and that would be you.

As for the .45 Witnesses, I have a couple of them and they're great shooters.  I also have the Springfield XD's in 9mm, 357 Sig and .45 acp.  I can recommend them without reservation.  I don't own Glocks...

Hope this helps.

I am going to mail it out some time this week.  I have to wait until i get to a nearby post office, as i don't trust the local mail carrier.

Make yourself a photocopy first.
