I would definitely be interested in a pre-order for the Tailhook. If you're putting a list together, put me on it. :)

Tailhook pre-sale?
« Reply #31 on: March 31, 2017, 05:48:39 AM »

That is correct. Complete packages won't be ready till summer though. Adapters potentially sooner for those who have a stock they want to convert.

Will the adapters be adjustable/multi-position in the CZ stock?

So if we have a Scorpion as it comes from the factory and want to add the tailhook as a brace, we need:

the tailhook
an adapter
a CZ stock

and it would probably just be better to wait for the package deal from GHW when everything is available?  do I have that right?

gear head,
my question is if someone buys the tailhook prior to the adapter and stock kit being available.
Would you offer the adapter/stock only kit for those that already purchased the tail hook.
I ask since I have a buffer tube on mine now and this would be a nice addition now and better when the stock kit is available.

Also have you determined prices?
I may have missed if you have posted them somewhere.

No. At least not intentionally. But If it works out the way I would like, there will be two positions.

We will offer the adapter separately once it's done. No price yet on it though. The Tailhook itself is MSRP $119.

Goodmorning Gearhead,

Yes I know you will offer the adapter separately.
but if you are offering a complete kit, I thought from what I had read it would include the front portion of the CZ stock.
I was looking more at would you be willing to offer a kit that included the front half of the stock and the adapter?
Potentially saving the customer, some money since the tailhook is $119, then the adapter, then a CZ stock would get a bit expensive.
It is just a thought.

Oh sorry. Yes we do plan to offer the entire kit for the best savings and convenience to the customer. But we will also offer the adapter by itself for those who don't want to wait for the kit or already have a stock. The kit will not be ready until summer is my best guess right now.

I think that's gonna be the best of all worlds honestly.  No paperwork, or complications due to it's classification in some areas... and it will probably be the most visually appealing out of all the options that exist.  (And I do mean it, the TH is easily the best looking brace option yet.)  The only downside I see to your solution at this point is, cost.  $170 stock, $120 hook, and a "$??" for the adapter begins to get borderline.  If it could be purchased all together and possibly save some cash, that would be nice.

ETA:  Nice to see the mag releases are back.  Buying one now.

yeah, I started to do that math in my head yesterday and was a bit worried.  Hopefully its all for nothing and it comes in at a competitive price point.

Do we know if the adapter is folding or not?

It is hard to tell in the pictures, but when it is folded, is it flush with the side like the factory stock? Or is the tail hook wider forcing it to have a bit of space between the factory folding section/ tail hook and the side of the gun when folded?

The Scorpion 'kit' will consist of the folding CZ cheek rest portion, the adapter to mount the Tailhook to the CZ folding member and the Tailhook itself.

The adapter alone doesn't fold. It merely connects the Tailhook to the folding portion of the CZ cheek rest.

One purpose of offering the kit is to eliminate the costs involved with the butt portion of the CZ assembly. It is not needed and shouldn't have to be paid for. So saying the CZ parts will cost as much as the current complete stock isn't accurate. It will be less. I do not have pricing though so don't ask. I will announce it when I know.

I have't added it up myself but I imagine that by the time you buy a Blade, buffer tube, buffer tube adapter and a folding hinge, it isn't cheap. And you are still stuck with something that doesn't look factory at all.

Assuming you use an average quality folding mechanism and modify your own plate to bolt the hinge on directly.  You're going to spend about $75-100 on the folding mech, $20-30 on the tube, and about $45 on the KAK blade.  So about $150-200, unless you use like UTG trash.  If you go CZC, drop your drawers, the folding mech alone is $215.  It looks like it's built as good as it costs.  But... you're going to end up around $275-300 and still have a KAK blade on the back.  Obviously there are quite few choices for braces and folding mechanisms out there to choose from.  The majority of which range from awful looking to, well, the KAK blade.

I think the gun remaining in pistol configuration might play to your benefit as well.  It means the stock could be the original folding mechanism and member because it would skirt the need for 922r compliance.  If those can be had without the butt plate and hardware cheaper... (not US made...) fingers crossed say < $100 for you.  Even if your adapter is $50 and your tail hook is $120.  That puts you square in the sweet spot of $250-270 with the most original, and best looking option available.  It should be like printing money so long as you keep them going out the door.

If you can roll that package out sub $250, I really don't see why anyone who is not directly doing an SBR would be interested in anything else.  You have the best idea I've seen yet.

It doesn't lay as flat as the factory stock but it's pretty close. Also note the ejection port is completely clear as well.
