Here you go Paul,
http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=66453.msg452738#msg452738

Joe L is kind of known for his long distance shooting with handguns and his pushing the cleaning cycles like you have done with the SA.
I think his look worse though.  ;D

I tried this with a Ruger SR9c and it started failing around 500 rounds.

Unintentionally I'm doing this with my SP-01 because I just don't feel like cleaning it after every range trip lately. I'm up just over 500 rounds. No issues, but I don't know if I'll push it up over 2k...

This just once again goes to show just how reliable the CZ design is.

You hear about how a g**k can handle this and that, but look at these guns and they are still shooting
extremely well. Joe was still using his in bullseye competition when it looked like that.

From an old 11B.  Please, for the love of humanity and love for your mama, clean your pistol.  LOL  My old DI would be rolling over in his grave if he saw this.  :o

Well, Well, Well!  I had to jinx it by posting this thread.

flyingbrass and myself went out and did some shooting today.  I had two malfunctions while shooting, failure to extract.  The first malfunction was at round count 2,327 and the second was at 2,339.  Both rounds were a new load I was testing out of the pistol (5.7gr of autocomp, 1.110? oal, 115gr RMR bullets).  5.7 gr. of autocomp is a really stiff load and I suspect the psi was 35,000+ psi.  Also, both offending rounds were Winchester cases, which are known for small diameter rims.  I measured both rim and they measured .386?.  Spec for the 9mm rim is .394? -.010?.  So, the Winchester rims are in spec, but not by much.

Variables that led to the two malfunctions:
1.   Small rims of the Winchester cases.
2.   Dirty chamber (over 2,300 rounds without cleaning the pistol) along with the high pressure loads, which may have caused the cases to stick to the chamber wall.
3.   Grim and debris under the extractor causing the extractor to lift slightly out of its intended resting position in the slide.

Anyway, it?s time to clean the pistol.  I will completely strip the pistol and let it soak in Ed?s Red for a few days and then scrub the hell out of it.

As of today, the total round count without cleaning the pistol is 2,398 rounds.  Really, that's not too bad considering there were only two malfunctions without cleaning in 2,398 rounds using suspect reloads.

Thanks!

DexterGSP--Your gun isn't dirty.  This is dirty.  After a bullseye match.  That I won.   This is from late 2016, two years after the post listed in a reply above.  I'll shoot this pistol in the morning.  It will run fine.

The difference is that this is .22 gunk from a Kadet kit and it builds up a lot faster than centerfire gunk.  I would spend all my time cleaning the 75B frame if I was in to cleanliness.  Futile with the .22.

This frame has nearly 50k rounds on it, and I clean it once a year.  Now the barrel, ramp, breech face, firing pin, and firing pin channel, as well as the extractor and magazines get cleaned regularly, since it is a .22.  But I've gone 2k-3k on a P-09 without cleaning it at all, just add oil.

I'm twitching just looking at those pictures!

Makes me want to take a shower and change the oil in my car.  This should be a sticky for what not to do.

Sheesh. Now I feel crazy for cleaning mine every couple times I go to the range  :o My argument is that I carry my PCR and use my SP-01 for home defense, so I want to make sure they're always in tip-top shape. And I'm a hardcore little bit of a neat freak when it comes to my babies.

I believe in keeping a home or defensive gun clean and lubed, especially a carry gun.   But a range gun that gets 1,000 rounds/month will wear you out cleaning it.  The Kadet gets cleaned often, just not the frame parts.

I don't carry gun, but HD and rarely used guns are always cleaned and lubed after each occasional trip to the range.
Range and competition guns get quick cleaning as needed, usually few times a year and checked and lubed after few range trips.

Nice to know the outer limits of CZ crud endurance. Glad it was your gun and not mine!  ::)

I've never thought of myself as anal retentive but you guys are killing me. I don't get to shoot anywhere near as often as I'd like to and maybe that's why I actually enjoy sitting and cleaning my guns while enjoying a cigar and a libation.
