Scored a CZ 75B from 1996 Turkish Import

I noticed a WTT ad on my local Gun board for a CZ 75B that was listed in perfect condition. He was looking for a compact carry 9MM and I offered him a few choices of what I had. He jumped on a S&W Shield 9MM that I had about $350 into. I think you can pick them up now for $250 with their $75 rebate. He was fine with a straight across trade which I was shocked by.

He sent me the serial # and it was surprised how short it was. After some further research, I determined it was a Turkish Military/Police surplus gun that was imported into the US in 1996. It's a great looking gun, but lacking the funky plastic grips with the thumb rest and only had 1 mag, but it was the correct 15 round mag they sold in 1996. The gun is in near perfect condition and trigger isn't so bad. It's certainly not like my shadow triggers, but I can make it work.

I had one of those years ago and like a dummy I sold it. The gun had a very good trigger pull on it. For whatever reason the trigger had hardly any pretravel when shot single action and the reset was short too. This is weird for a stock "B" gun. I wanted a glock at the time so I sold it. Big mistake.

My 1996 made Turkish Mil overrun pistol has the CZ-USA import stamp, serial number 299xx.  I believe I bought it NIB in 1998, or 1999 during the Clinton AWB/Mag ban, so it came with one ten round, and one 15 round mag.  I guess the guns never were sent to Turkey but sat in the Czech Republic until transferred to CZ-USA for sale.  Maybe someone else knows the real story.  It is a great shooter, and identical to the "commercial" 75B's being sold at the time.

Four digits plus a letter (first started with "A")...that was the standard serial numbering sequence from mid-1994 to around 2000 when that sequence was exhausted. There are some Israeli CZ 75s at the end of that decade that used a two letter plus three digits sequence. These all appear to have the standard proof (Lion on N) whereas there is a specific proof mark for military arms made for "other than the Czech military" that consists of a triangular shape.

There is a similar looking triangular proof that has appeared on some 2017 production. Also for 2016, the Lion over N has been replaced by a simpler looking lion inside a shield.

I found a few postings from 2002 that stated they were Turkish overruns that were never delivered and the 15 Round and 10 Round mags that were included. This one is one of the better 75B's that I've shoot. I just lucked out on picking this one up.

I remember reading on some gun forums when they were still available, and the thought then was that they were identical to the commercial guns, but just with a lower retail price due to the surplus.  Also, they came with at least one 15 round mag which was worth more due to the silly mag capacity ban back then.  It was a no brainer for me, and I've been very happy with it over the last 18 years or so.  It is my bedside gun, plus I use it as a host for my Kadet Kit Gen I.  The only pistol I like better is my 75 Pre-B, or maybe PCR, or 97B........   Argh!

I have one of these "Turkisk overruns".  In fact it was my first CZ. My serial# is a tad higher than the OP's example at 70xxL. I purchased mine new in 2000 from an ad in Shotgun News from the old Burns Brothers in NY. Like the OP mine came with one 10 and one 15rd mag for a $309.99 + $11.05 shipping and insurance.

I've paid less since than for other guns but not a better gun.

 I just picked up a clean 75B stamped 96 and CZ-USA Oakhurst CA. It came with the ergonomic grips and  a 15 round mag and a 10 round mag  Ser# 7xxxL
I noticed the hole in the hammer is smaller than the later model hammers otherwise looks the same.
