Since the P10c isn't the 2nd, or 3rd...or 20th polymer frame, striker fired pistol to the market, I don't think they missed the boat. Heck, the 509 isn't even FN's first dabble into the market. It is an update of their existing striker gun to compete for the US military contract.
I'm a big FN fan. I relied on their small arms for most of my military career (M14, M16, M249, M240, M2, MK19, AT4). O really wish they had gone FN for the new military pistol. But, I wasn't going to get the first P10 on the shelf anyway. I'll give it a year, minimum to field test.
