I don't think blaming young folks, liberals, or colleges to be accurate or wise - all that does is alienate even more folks.  The problem is government infringement, at all levels and of all persuasions.

Heck, just look at the the present DOJ's position on restitution of 2nd Amendment Rights:

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-court-guns-trump-20170525-story.html

Please recall the motorist who shot and killed a suspect attacking an AZ officer earlier this year had to have his rights restored and that turned out to be a huge positive.
You're citing an instance of the DOJ enforcing a federal law? It's the attorney general's job to enforce laws whether they like them or not. I'm good with it.

I am citing the particular Law itself as government infringement and the current pursuit as surprising, that's all.  I'll be interested in how this is settled.

The law has is part of GCA 68 and has been pursued for years without fanfare. This story is nothing more than another way to try and marginalize the Trump admin. and cost him the support of those who voted for him.
The law regarding domestic violence is just as infringing and maybe more so. You can be convicted of domestic violence for an aggressive shouting match with your spouse and guess what? No more guns for you. Who was that guy that signed that into law ? oh yea slick willie.

Of course you don't want your generation or education system scrutinized but when we see the type of anarchy such as has been perpetrated on college campuses by young people who are offended by opposing view points and the faculty praises and makes excuses for such behavior what else are we who have been around and have some real life experience to think?
While we're at it I'm sick to death and tired of liberals crying about being alienated by conservative view points yet they jump at every chance to denigrate conservatives.

My, my...
Applying labels to people is an external definition that is never quite accurate and then folks get upset when things don't meet expectations.  Sometimes I wonder if people are more upset with the "groups" or the supposed groupings. ;D
I am sorry, I just don't see divisive attitudes and anger to be examples for long term success or well-being.  ;)
Thanks!

I didn't apply any label to anything or anyone here. I'm referencing real situations that we've seen played out across this country on college campuses and in our streets over the last several years. You want have a discussion on those facts I'll play along. You want to side track with nonsense I'm done with you.

Yeah! It's not all millenials... Where is my generation learning this garbage? We are the generation who grew up getting a trophy for everything not because we are different, but because some of our parents were soft! Likely no one on this forum...

We, the millennial, face quite the predicament politically and economically because of preceeding generations of greed, corruption, and kicking the can down the road.  I sure hope I, and others  of all loving generations, can help share counter opinions to in a way to bring sanity back to all generations so we stop supporting both the corrupt political parties!
Soo, there is hope after all. God speed. Many of us who fought that battle tooth and nail lost badly.

Sure, I'd like to be young again, if it didn't come with such a big dose of stupid.

To your points......you are correct that probably nearly everyone on the forum despised the "participation trophy" mentality...its not the real world, really a bad practice IMHO.....

Your second point of multiple generations bringing back "sanity" is a lofty one.....I would like to have faith in that but as long as we have 80% of our politicians from the lawyer ranks of society making the important decisions that really impact our society that might be unrealistic.....right and wrong doesn't matter, its all about winning....the media is another lost cause, they've abandoned their charge for political purpose, the exact opposite reason they exist in the first place......just look at the system now with Trump in office, no one is giving him even a chance to do anything......I'd be happy with folks just being "civil" at this point ???

Get real, people.   Millennials do not control our government.   It is mostly a bunch of old farts that have been around for 30 years doing nothing but tax and spend and obstruct freedom (ala Diane Sweinstein).   Most corporations are also controlled by people of the "older" set still.  They have the money and power way times more than the NRA.   Bloomberg alone spends more than the NRA pushing his anti-gun agenda

But I agree the infiltration of the leftist/socialist/communist/marxist in our education system is killing free speech and thought, and intentionally instilling triggers against conservative values and the very principles that founded this great nation.

It is high time for term limits and a Constitutional convention led by the states.  Hopefully we can get more conservative judges on SCOTUS to protect the 2nd Amendment for a few more decades.

Not so much that millennials control the gov.but more a matter of who they vote for. Maybe not all but a large percentage have been conned into buying into the central planning nanny state type of gov. that people like feinstein are selling and at this point many repubs are no different in what they offer. The one thing Trump has been completely successful in is showing how neither side of the isle cares one iota about their constituency and they are all more interested in protecting the establishment and keeping themselves in power and relevant. Very interesting days to follow.

Columbine, VA Tech, Sandy Hook, and now Vegas. All these mass killings are tragic, but all you'll ever get is a on/off national debate on gun control and not much else.  Talk, talk, talk. And you know why? It's the NRA's lobbying influence on Congress that makes the laws. Not trying to judge the NRA, just stating the facts about American politics in general. Gotta remember the NRA does not represent gun owners per se, but the gun industry at large, and it's their job to preserve and expand the gun industry, which they do very well. Besides, gun control laws will never work. Firearms are so ingrained in our culture over the last 240 years, no politician can ever take that away. Gun control? It's all talk with little to no action.

So what exactly is your solution? Not a tremendous fan of the NRA at the moment but it's the private sector membership that keeps them afloat. The simple overlooked fact is the gun industry will survive even if we reach the point of total private ownership bans. Does anyone think the police and military agencies worldwide will give up their arms? Even if we do? If so think again. They'll always be armed to the teeth as will the criminal element and the sheep will be easy prey for both.

I expect to be dead by the time they remove the 2A - or will simply die as a result of their efforts to collect firearms if they get it done earlier.
I don't plan on surrendering anything.

My solution? Let the NRA do its job. Their supporting the bump stock ban proposal is quite clever. They're shifting national attention away from gun control (which is what we all want) and focusing it on a device instead, not the gun. Besides this ban has received very lukewarm support from the GOP which controls Congress. And to hell with the liberals.  In time, I think this proposal will die. Keep exercising your 2nd Amendment right and comply with all federal and state firearms laws.  The 2nd has not been rescinded and there have been no changes in current laws that I am aware of. We're all good there.

And as for any future laws that will ban firearms to take away firearms already owned? Any enforcement of such a stupid law will lead to a nation-wide riot which could easily lead to another civil war. Guns and freedom go hand in hand, and any US lawmaker who doesn't get it is a complete idiot.

In other words, let's continue to enjoy our firearms and let the current !@##storm pass as it always has.

I have seen the work the NRA does for many years, and I hate to say it, but that is not completely correct. The NRA does work closely with the firearms industry in several things, but their goal is to meet the needs of the membership. From 1871 until about 1975 the NRA was primarily for training and hunting, and partnering with law enforcement. In 1975 the Institute for Legislative Action was formed, which is the active lobbying group for the NRA. They represent the membership. So you are half right - they don't represent ALL gun owners, but they do represent the 5 million men and women membership of the organization.

Armor, I stand corrected and enlightened, sir. Thank you!!
