Best CZ 22LR
« on: May 22, 2017, 02:58:13 AM »
I am planning to get a 22LR rifle for jack rabbits. Which 22 rifle model is the most accurate? Thanks

All CZ 452-455 series are about the same. Very accurate. Main difference is in the barrel length, sights and stock  options.
If you planning to scope and carry it, American 16" model would be short and lite. For open sights, trainer or lux with tangent sights are good choices.

The new 455 scout could be player as well. The 455 barrel switch option can be made to work or a 452 scout as well.
My Scout shoots under 1/2" @ fifty with sk ammo.If you are going to carry it consider the weight as well.

Not surprised. CZ barrels are very accurate as a norm. Scout iron sights may not be the best though.

I honestly don't mind the weight. My pellet rifle with scope and rings is 11lb plus so I will not mind the weight. Accuracy is my number 1 concern. From what I read it seem like any CZs will be impressive as advertised.

Correct. Once accuracy is out of equation (or rather equal) other factors start playing role in the selection. Size and ergonomics, options for iron sights, sling studs etc...
For competition target shooting offhand with scope I prefer heavy varmint model. Ultra Lux for target offhand shooting with iron sights because longer barrel gives the sight radius advantage and balances better. For tactical 200m shooting with scope off the bipod, I use American 16" barrel. For showing off FS with iron sights. Last two rifles would be my choice for carrying while hunting (I don't hunt), but little too light for offhand shooting, unless I keep bipod attached. All of them are capable of subMOA groups.
Even old BRNO1 that older then me is still shooting decent.

Does CZ USA sell the 16" barrel, and an accessory for the 455?

I have a few CZ .22 rifles...for intended purpose mentioned by OP I'd probably reach for the heavy barrel varmint and good grade ammo  :)

CZ 452 or 455(new) are great options.. Next to see it's the distance and kind of sight to use iron or scope to choose the barrel length..

Went with 455 American and that rifle is the most accurate 22lr I ever shot.
Currently has a hawke  sidewinder 4-16x50 and shooting sks standard plus, group was sub MOA 100yards. Shot my first jack rabbit at 75 yards right in the eye.

Your first CZ rimfire rifle?   Be warned, they multiply ..  just like the jack rabbits ...   LOL

My Scout has been sitting idle for 1+ year..  took it out a few weeks ago.. the  tightest 5-shot group @ 50 yds was 0.15" with Eley target, next up is 0.22" with Wolf Match Target  --   of course, some groups are in the 30s, 40s, too, but none the less, it was a very good day.

Enjoy your new toy.. (and make room for more 452 / 453 / 455  .... )
