Does P-09 suppressor ready fit the IDPA box?
« on: May 29, 2017, 12:31:09 AM »
Has anyone tried the suppressor ready P-09 in the IDPA box. I did a search and there was a post asking the question a couple years ago and the only answer was that "threaded barrels aren't legal in sanctioned matches."  If that ever was the case, it is not reflected in the 2017 rule book.

The CZ-USA website states 8.8 inches for the length. The IDPA box is 8.75 with some tolerance (sometime). Again, has anyone tried it?

Thanks T.O. for the offer. I am several hundred miles away.  I am contemplating a suppressor ready P-09 and before I pull the trigger  ;), I want to make sure that I can shoot it in competition.

I believe what you're looking for is in the classifieds in the Forum here, it's been Cajunized at  cgw

What I want to know is if anyone has a suppressor ready P-09, the one with the threaded 5+" barrel, and has put it in an IDPA box.

The answer seems to be elusive. The question has been posted here and on Brian Enos. No answers on either forum.

The length would be ok, but the tall sights may keep it from fitting.

Do you know that from putting it in the box, or is that conjecture only? If I buy one, the sights will be changed.  I won't shoot it with a suppressor

The exactly WHY of this is easy.  It has a 5.15 inch barrel.  Longer barrels provide higher velocity meaning a lighter load will make power factor. The P-09 is reputed to be a light recoiling gun.  A P-09 with another .6 inches of barrel should recoil even less and have less muzzle flip giving quicker follow up shots.

This thread was not meant to be a philosophical discussion.  It was merely a request if anyone has put said gun in an IDPA box.
