CZ 75 SP01 Shadow Target IDPA legal
« on: March 26, 2017, 08:35:32 PM »
I just finished my IDPA SO refresher certification class and it appears that the new 2017 rule book  no longer excludes dust covers for ESP class which means that the SP01 Shadow Target pistol should be legal for IDPA ESP class.

In the past the Target pistol has not been legal in SSP class  because of the machined slide to accommodate the sights, though the dust cover was ok,

and.. for ESP the dust cover was not legal, though the machined slide was OK.

It appears that for 2017  IDPA has dropped the restriction on the dust cover in ESP class.....so the Shadow Target model should be good to go.

Yup. It specifically says it's allowed in the 2017 rulebook.

Guess what else is ESP leagal?!

The Accu Shadow.

I spoke with IDPA while shooting our monthly match. It is legal!

No, an email will not be given since it's informal.

If you would like to shoot one in a match, I'd recommend you send your MD/AC an email. If for some reason they're still thinking it's not allowed, you should ask them to contact HQ. That way you're not trying to convince someone at equipment check.

That's great news! Such a dumb rule to begin with, I'm glad they've done away with it.

You are correct that the CZ Shadow Target is legal in IDPA ESP. It fits in the box, meets the weight requirement and "Slides may be machined to accept different style sights." The dust cover information was removed, so it isn't banned anymore

Would be a great gun for ESP!

I shoot SSP, so I use my SP01 and hoping to get the normal SP01 Shadow

As long as it fits in the box and makes weight.
