CZ SP01 Open Gun? Comp Available? Ideas?

Have a CZ SP01 set up for carry optics, thinking of getting a separate SP01 threaded barrel,which CGW/CZC sells and add a compensator to try Open division (will be running major 9mm ammo). Who sells comp for the SP01? I see a lot of comps for other platforms (Glock's,XD's,Sig's) that has a thread pitch of 1/2x28 (same as the SP01 threaded barrel), did anybody tried these? Do they work with the SP01? Pls. post pics if you have a set up, Thanks.

Carry Optics rules were updated in Feb-2017 to allow up to 45oz.   SP-01 was used at Optics Nationals by quite a few people.

OP, search for Thompson Customs on this forum.  He's done something with his SP-01 like you're asking.  It's loud as hell at the indoor range!

No one makes a comp for the SP-01 so your gonna have to have one built or modify one that's already out there otherwise you could use the bushing comp for the czechmate I believe and not run a threaded barrel but that comp is almost 300 bucks so either way your gonna spend some money to get a comp on this gun. I used a SJC 11 port but I wouldn't recommend a aluminum compensator to anyone go all steel, aluminum is not worth the headache.

Stainless steel, indeed, is the way to go. Build a cone comp or a conversion cone to existing one. Remove bushing, thread existing barrel 1/2" 28. Find a way to support the barrel during slide cycle with steel guiderod, etc. - must maintain high barrel front position or gun will surely lock-up.

Thanks everybody for the replies. Decided not to go through with building a Open Gun, I'm in Kalifornia and a Open 10 Division just doesn't sound right.

Man that does look pretty good. Shame CGW or CZC haven't made a few of these. Seems like a fairly logical progression. What's the Hangup with running an SP-01 Shadow in open? Magazines?

I'm assuming those are minor? Can the CZ handle major loads?

You can get to 22 or 24 9mm mag extensions that aren't too long. I believe Stuart mentioned this in a thread a while back.

CZC pads and follower kits with CZ SP-01 18-round and ProMag 20-round tubes for 24 and 28 rounds, respectively.
