Cajun works or gunsmith
« on: June 04, 2017, 01:37:18 AM »
Pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but still curious. Should I send my cz into Cajun to have work done or buy the kit and have a good reputable gunsmith do it to save money?

I have had two guns worked on by CGW, and I won't LET anyone else touch my CZs.  8)

You won't be disappointed to send it to them. I purchased the parts and did everything myself. A little frustrating and time consuming when one does it the first time but I thought it was worth it.

I installed a couple of items myself and then sent it to CGW to have it done right.

If you don't want to do it yourself, CGW stands behind their work.

Thanks guys! Yup I figured much. If you want it done right let the pros do it! Do they have a warranty on it?

One of the biggest reasons to let CGW do it is because they know CZ's. I've read on here many times about a good reputable gunsmith screwing up a CZ. Unless your GS works on a lot of CZ's, let CGW take care of it.

The only negatives with sending to CGW vs a local gunsmith is shipping cost and the wait. Both are more than offset by the peace of mind you get by knowing the result will be awesome. Labor charges at CGW are very reasonable as well.

I didn't want to wait for weeks and ship pistol frames to CGW, so I normally buy the kits and installed them myself. If i didn't have some mechanical abilities and a home/garage shop full of tools, I would had to rely on the gunsmith to do it and send it to CGW. For CZ97 bushing conversion I had to send the slide in and happy with results and quick as promised turn around.

I think it depends on what you want done and which model CZ.  If it's just basic springs or a hammer kit, you or any experienced gun smith should be able to do it.  If it's custom fitting and polishing, I'd send it to CGW, or do it yourself with the understanding you may have to replace any parts you screw up.  I did the latter only because I didn't want to want to wait.

The problem:  "Experienced gunsmiths" Often don't mean "Experienced CZ Pistol" gunsmiths.
The solution:  CGW or CZCustom ARE not only experienced CZ pistol gunsmiths but have each actually designed and had manufactured the parts needed to make them perform well beyond factory capabilities.

I have a 75B Polished Stainless, that just feels perfect when I put it in my hands. Love to shoot it but the stock trigger leaves a little to be desired. Problem is I have an SP-01 Shadow Target that came from CZC and now a Pro-Tek 1 from CZC. When I shoot my 75B the trigger really feels bad. I am thinking about sending it to Cajun letting them do their magic just to compare with CZC. Kinda wanted to leave it stock, but now it feels so different compared to the other two, I have to do something.
