To fake can or not to fake can
« on: June 06, 2017, 09:29:10 PM »
I finally fondled Scorpions in the store and pretty much sold on getting the carbine version since i do not want to deal with the brace issue

Now which one to get one with can or with out?   The possibility of me suppressing it for me is  as likely as hearing act passing.
Aside from looks any reason to get one or another?  is there a weight difference?

it's purely aesthetic, both are exactly the same when it comes to future suppression possibilities, so really up to you.

I almost went the carbine route, and if I did and left it as-is, would've gotten the fake can.  It's slightly shorter and to me, looks better.

I have no regrets getting my carbine with the fake can.

The Scorpion carbine stock is designed to accommodate a can and when viewing a standard carbine at the NRA show from the front end, it looks out of place with all the void area around the barrel IMHO.

I just think the fake can looks better.

I do own an AAC M4-2000 Mod 08 for my AR, so it's not like I can't afford a suppressor.

This.
Plus you can remove the can and put a FH or brake on it if you want.

You just sold me on pistol hand guard on my carbine. I wondered how it would look and it looks sweet.

I far prefer the LOOKS of the fake can.  However, I went with the compensated version.  My use for the carbine is USPSA's PCC Division.  I would have a comp on it anyway.  And the factory comp does seem to work.

I don't see the point of a fake "anything" on a gun.

The ones like I make are a good temporary solution under a long handguard while you wait for your F4 to go through.  That's about the only use though and part of the reason why I sell em so cheap.  Keep em at a relatively "disposable" price point....

Besides, if I add a tac-vest, balaclava and nomex gloves, folks at the local range line up to watch me operate...

Get one with a can you can always take it off if you decide you don't like it.

Because a semi-auto sub gun is still a lethal tool.  A fake suppressor literally does nothing.

I mean, at end of the day people will do what they want with their money, I just find your statement bizarre.

Just being a smart ass  ;D

Like you said, people like different things, to each his own. Guys bash the 16" carbine for all kinds of reasons, people bash braces, now fake cans, and so on. At the end of the day if you like it what's it matter .
