P07 issues - sight drifted pretty far right
« on: June 10, 2017, 08:35:54 PM »
I got a new P07 back in December and havent had much chance to shoot it until today.

The trigger is god awful in this gun (meanwhile my factory SP01 is perfect - go figure)

The gun shoots left. badly. In fact to get it to be on center, the sight is drifted significantly right. It also puts out flyers (trigger, me?) quite randomly. It still shoots a bit left, but Im wondering if this isnt the poor trigger in the gun. The upside is, it feels great to shoot. and handles the recoil well. It feels like I should be much better with it than I am. Something just feels 'off' with it wanting to drift left. Its incredibly irritating.  Im doing a full disassemble and clean, but Im wondering if anyone else has this issue of the sight needing drifted to the right to be on target?

Its the urban grey suppressor ready model.

Im wondering if I shouldnt send it in to cz. The rear sight shouldnt need to be drifted this far.

Im also not anywhere near as poor a shot as this gun acts like. My SP01, I can take the champion rifle targets, put them at 25ft, and keep 10 rounds in each of the small diamonds on the corners. Same with my wife's SP01 compact. And most of my other guns.

Thoughts?

I have mine drifted a little right of center to get it to shoot POA but not a lot.

I even verified it from a rest.

If it's off a lot, I'd contact CZ about it.

The DA trigger pull on a stock P-07 can be pretty bad, but you shouldn't have any trouble in SA. Have you been shooting you P-07 from a rest?

after polishing the axles and pins, trigger bar and safety plunger, the gun is much better. Probably 50%. The creep is there,. but the grit is gone. It's gone from the worst trigger I own, to acceptable. Its about on par with my USP, which has a stock trigger and many rounds thru it.

The SA was gritty, no doubt. It was kind of a joke. Now, not so bad. Its actually pretty good, the grit is gone but the creep is there. Grit just magnifies creep so bad.

I probably cant get the creep out without changing the hammer. Thats not in the budget for this gun until (if) I get this sight drifted to the right thing corrected. The DA is still stupid heavy, but its slightly better. I did everything in the P07/09 tuning thread.

I'll work more with it tomorrow. Im just pretty uncomfortable with the rear sight drifted to the right.

I havent properly 'rested' it so to speak, but Ive never had to do that with anything else I shoot

No.

Need to baseline it and make sure it's good before spending money on it

disassembly and polishing doesn't cost you a thing other than your time.

This small bit a work made a great deal of difference to the smoothness of the trigger.  Op on this subject made a very good discovery.

May I ask which back strap you're using?

I've had my Urban Grey P-07 a few weeks now. Had similar issues and found the rear sight was slightly left from the factory, and the CZ test firing sheet verified that it was grouping about 1" left right from the factory. I drifted the rear sight back to center, maybe a hair right, and changed the backstrap to medium to fill my M hand and Bingo, it's spot on now at 25'-30'.    Lubed it real well and it seemed to flush out the grit. 300 rounds through now, SA is nice and light and perfect break, and the very heavy DA pull is starting to lighten up (with the help of a spot of EWG on the sliding parts of sear). As long as it's smooth, I don't mind a fairly heavy (10+-) DA.

I now have high hopes for this gun.  Just sent the slide off to CZCustom for milling to mount a DP Pro and co-witness.

Of course, there's different opinions on this and I'm certainly no expert, but I don't plan to tinker with springs until I have it past 500 rounds where CZ's normally begin to smooth out and settle in. As a Defensive/Sport gun I really don't want the SA any lighter, so I'm hoping the DA will just get to ~8.5-10lbs on it's own.

I did everything in the first tuning thread yesterday afternoon.

I will look in to the disconnector clearance. I fired another 50 rounds today. Groups were better, but still about twice what I do with my SP01.

Backstrap is what ever came on it

I'll post pcis later. The sight position bugs the hell out of me. But it feels really controllable.

Whats the budget upgrade here? springs and a roller?

I tried different ammo, no real change. I fell like Im shooting well but then I get a group all over the place.

I think the P-07 Urban grey normally come with the Small backstrap installed. What size(glove) is your hand?  You may find simply changing the bacstrap will tighten your groups. Hey, it's worth a try and costs ZERO$.
