Quick ? For the PCR owners
« on: July 04, 2017, 12:20:28 AM »
I've been considering getting a pcr as a carry gun.  I looked at one the other day at my local shop.  Loved the size, weight, etc...
But noticed a couple things I wasn't aware of.
1. On top of the slide there was an X with a silver dot in the middle of it.  I didn't know what it was and either did the guy behind the counter. Anyone know?
2. Are all the triggers on the pcr serrated?  I'm concerned I wouldn't like that and wondered if you cans easily swap that out for something like the 85 combat trigger?

Thanks

Silver dot is the load indicator.  It will extruded slightly when there is a round in the chamber.

Some of us , me included, do not like the stock trigger (serrated), I replaced mine with the one for CZ 85 - less curve, smooth surface -- life is good!    I did not replace it myself, CZ did it for me when it was back to CZ for a minor warranty work -- replace the trigger spring .

I would not trade my PCR for anything else out there but I did not like the serrated trigger either. I swapped mine myself and they are not bad to do. CZ's are not overly hard to work on but they are more complex than today's crop of striker fired plastics. Read and watch some vids and gain a working knowledge of the pistol before ripping into it and you'll be fine.

I have a new pcr with over 1000 rounds through it.  Wonderful weapon.  You can add a new MecGar mag and have 16+1 on board and still be completely concealed. First off the serrated trigger is no problem.  I personally like the tactile feel of it especially when my hands are wet.  Next, if I am reading your question correctly, that silver dot on the slide top is the loaded round indicator. It becomes a small bump you can feel when the weapon is chambered. Its a nice feature particularly in the dark if you don't remember whether your weapon is ready or not. Sure beats a press check. Best wishes on your pending purchase.
If you find yourself in a fair gunfight, your tactics stink!

There have been some PCRs showing up with black, non-serrated triggers, but I think someone mentioned they were mainly seeing those in the 10rd PCRs? To the best of my knowledge, most ship with the silver serrated trigger.

I carry mine and I love it; no reservations and recommend it highly. Only complaint is I think the stock sights are garbage, but since I'm 15 minutes from CZ Custom, one of these days I'll go down there and get some replacements. I also swapped out the rubber grips for some G10 grips from VZ (people also like Lok and Pachmayr), so if you're considering replacing the stock grips with something a bit thinner and not as grippy, that's an option. Happy shooting!

Yes, buy that PCR!  My daughter in TX has my first PCR and the 2nd I sold to fund an AR in anticipation of that probably Hillary victory (whew, thank You, God).  I'm now considering selling my Mod 2 .45 (the Mod 2 9mm is going nowhere) and buying my 3rd PCR.
PTC, but Pine Mtn will always be home.

I dont know if this applies to the pcr but i know midsize glocks have a serrated target trigger to deal with points system to import.

Picture on the left shows indicator recessed with an empty chamber.  Picture on the right is loaded chamber indicator sticking up when there's a round in the chamber. (Done with snap caps)
