I'm very happy with my CM9 at this point.

For $250.00, it's hard to pass up on it.

I do like Sootch videos.  Well done and he is a like-able guy.

I do find that at times, he makes odd comparisons and statements.  The Gen 2 CM 9 is NOT G19 sized - not.  It is a 'semi-compact' sized gun - after the Tanfoglio line.  It is much taller than the G19.  The P07 is G19 sized - NOT the CM 9.

I don't find the CM9 DA to be heavy - it seems light to me and VERY smooth.  The SA felt very crisp.  Impressive.  I'm also surprised in another thread here to find one malfunctioning.

I do question the soft polymer used in the frame.  Just baffles me. If you don't believe me - flex the front of the dust cover.  No other polymer gun is this soft.

I think it's fair to say the CM9 is G19 or P-07 sized.

Their isn't that much difference in the lenght of the grips.

I agree that the double action on the CM9 doesn't seem to be overly heavy and the SA is great right from the factory.

Now the DA trigger on my P-100, now that sucker is a heavy DA trigger.

As for the flex in end of the dust cover, it's minimal. I don't see it being an issue to be honest. But time will tell.

According to SAR, the dimensions of the CM9 Gen 2:

Height 5.6", Length 7.3"

Glock G19:  Height 4.99" (OK 5), and Length 6.85" (OK, 6.9) - no they are not the same size.

I really don't consider them comparable. I really don't know why he felt compelled to make this a big point.  It fills a different niche.

It's not the dust cover that bothers me.  If it is uniform, it must have low glass fiber reinforcement over the entire frame.  This issue caused CZ to change their own plastic recipe.

They don't have to be exactly the same size.

The image above demonstrates the fact that the CM9 and the P-07 (which you stated was the same size as the G19) are very similar in size.

As for the dust cover flex, only time will tell if it is an issue.

Glock 17 Gen 4
Barrel Length   4.49 inches
Caliber   9mm
Overall Height   5.43 inches
Overall Length   7.32 inches

By the above logic I suppose the G19 is the same size as the G17.

Pictures can be good, but I think a real one would help better.  I think the 'tale of the tape' is pretty clear.

Sure, for some, a semi-compact with the long grip is ideal - but it isn't a compact.  I just don't see whay Sootch went there.

Again, my comment about the plastic is generally about the frame rigidity.  As an occasional use truck gun, this may be great at a great price point, but for folks who have to order it unseen and will rely on it for a GP/HD/Carry gun, they need to think about this.

Especially with the longer grip and the adjustable rear sight ::)

IMHO this gun should've had the B6P rear sight (for one handed manipulations) and a new shorter 15rd mag to be the same as a G19.  For a carry gun, you may be better off with a K2P (gen 1 gun) and cut the grip to accept 13rd B6PC or CZ75 compact mags.  Still waiting for someone to do that mod.

Roger!  SAR is churning out models like candy along with Canik.  With Canik offering good guns with Warren Tactical sights, why doesn't SAR offer the CM9 with a real COMPACT profile?  And instead of dumb 13 round Tanfoglio mags, do it with CZ 14 rounders and a proper grip?  It could still take 16/17 rounders, and offer combat sights,  Just doesn't make much sense.

I believe the reason for the Glock comparison is that many more pistol shooters are familiar with Glock sizes than other brands.  This is a nice, general, generic comparison....nothing more.

Then he gives a general size comparison for the CZ fanboys out here.....nothing more than another general comparison in order to give the idea of size.

Digging out some esoteric pistol model (that a much smaller number of shooters would know) in order to make "exact" comparisons would be ridiculous and a disservice to his listeners.

I know "why" the Glock comparison.  I just don't get stretching a wrong comparison.  He knows better.  That is what baffles me.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I don't need a ruler, calculator, measuring tape to look at two similarly sized items and come to the conclusion that they are, similarly sized. 😆

He never stated they where exactly the same size, nothing "wrong" about making a generalized statement.

I very much like the design of the new CM9, as I'm a fan of the mid-size or semi-compact Pistols.
While I scarcely need it, as I continue to be very well served by my other similarly sized Pistols,
I may still have to buy one.

Mid-Size DA/SA 9mm Pistols
Left to Right
EAA SAR K2P
Armscore/Rock Island/Tanfoglio MAP1 MS
Series 88 TA90 Full Size Frame with Compact Slide

I also like the mid-sized Striker Fired Pistols.

Mid-Size Striker Fired 9mm's
Left to Right
Taurus 24/7 Pro
Canik 55 TP-9 V1
S&W Sigma SW9VE - with mild trigger work

I'm thinking that what we have called Mid-Size, is now becoming the new Full Sized Service Pistol, as it seems to be a handier size.

Well there are 2 things about the Sar CM9 that I like better than stock G19 and PO7 duty pistols ,one the trigger in Sa is just outstanding for a factory gun that cost me $289.00 ,second I like the bigger grip and mag capacity and the fact that I can run Mecagr 19 rounders giving my 3.8 inch gun maximum mag capacity.  I don't care if I print.
