Non-CGW trigger job....
« on: July 31, 2017, 09:06:08 AM »

Ok, first post here so go easy on the FNG  ;)

I want to improve my Shadow trigger - only problem is I'm in Australia and CGW isn't....

Getting firearm parts shipped out of the USA is a major hurdle and the advice I've received is that I can't buy them when I head over for a trip later this year.  Weirdly getting them into Australia is straightforward.

So, whilst I'd love to do the CGW pro kit I just don't think it's an option.  Using locally available parts I'm thinking something like:

13 main spring, 12 recoil
Extended firing pin/reduced power spring

Trigger travel - 2 options potentially?

1 - quick and easy, take out the disconnector and use a SA only trigger
2 - fit a pre-B disconnector - keeps the DA/SA trigger but the SA position is further back and the reset distance is shorter?

And then get busy with the 1200 grit and Dremel

Not really bothered about DA, but SA pull needs to be at least 3lbs

Would really appreciate everyone's advice/opinion.  Thanks for reading!

Welcome, sorry to hear it's such a hassle getting parts.

Don't own a Shadow myself, but sounds like you've got a good plan. I'd go with #2 myself, you'll like how most of the slack in the trigger disappears. As for the recoil spring, that's completely up to you, but most of the time it's better to tune it to your ammo. Ejection of about 8' is about perfect on average.

Hey Oz

Have you had a chat to the guys at Terrey Hills gun shop? (Paul Britton)

He may have options, he is the official CZ pistol distributor in Australia

I use this shop for all my parts and he may be able to source parts for you.

Agree, buy the parts here.  Not a weapon, so no problem with purchasing.  If no problem getting them into Oz that would be the way to go.

I'm wondering why this is a sticky, but for me, there is also no CGW or CZ Custom, so I went and got the Eeman Tech ultimate upgrade kit. It was billed as turning your SP01 Shadow from a great gun to a really great gun. And since its really swapping out parts, the gunsmith need only be competent, as opposed to an expert to get the job right.
