Question about sights
« on: August 10, 2017, 02:00:13 PM »
Here's the deal I ordered a dawson precision sight set. Black competition rear f/o front for cz 75 sp01. That's how the website reads. I'm curious if this rear sight will fit on a 75sa, or if they will only fit a sp01. I noticed that the sp01 sight sits a little further back. Anyone run into issues with dawson sights and compatibility with the full size 75s. The way the website reads is kinda weird to me. Any help would be appreciated

As far as i am aware the CZ75 SA and the CZ SP-01 have the same slide aside from the roll mark including the same rear sight cut. I have not noticed the rear sight cut being further back before, may just be factory variance? Regardless being a bit further back should not effect the sights in any way aside from increasing the sight radius a bit.

I am interested to hear other forum members input on your question.

The sights for the SP-01 from Dawson will NOT fit a CZ 75 anything. The depth of the notch is much shallower on the SP-01 and the Dawson sight will not go over the rear sight rib on a CZ 75, 75B or BD. If you ask Dawson they will tell you that they do not make a sight that will fit the CZ 75. You would need to measure the dovetail depth on the SA and compare it to the SP-01 to find out if it will fit.

I was hoping that i would see your input on this thread. I was thinking about the shallower SP-01 sight cut that you have mentioned in the past as i made my orignal post. The CZ75 SA slide is different than most of the short dust cover CZ 75 variants. Are we sure that the CZ75 SA has the deeper 75 cut and not the SP-01 cut? It has been my understanding that the SP-01, CZ75 SA and the CZ75B 40S&W all share the same sight cut due to them all sharing the same slide profile. I assume that you already understand this but to be clear my intent is to find clarity on the subject, nothing more.

It is quite possible that you are correct. I have tried the Dawson sight on the SP-01, CZ97B/BD and it would clear the rib. I have a .40 SA but have never measured the notch depth. That is why I said you would need to measure the depth and compare. I know for sure that the SP-01 and the CZ 75 are different in depth, the width of the dovetail is the same but not the depth of the cut. I won't be buying anymore sights from Dawson until they fix their point od aim problem. You would think that since the CGW's sights are so well regulated and Dawson makes them they could get their own sights right. Not any I have tried so far.

I'm not stoked to hear that about dawson. I will update this thread with results. I'd like to put these new sights on a 75 sa if possible. If not they're going on the sp01

I was doing some surfing and I found this photo of a 75 sa with DP sights. It for sale right now on arms list a like new gun so I don't think any other work was done to it other than the sights. I'm glad to see they fit because that's the set I have. The front looks great I'm going to put the rear on tomorrow will hopefully get some pics up. Looks like the DP sp01 rear sight will fit a 75 sa

Got the Dawson precision sight on my 75sa. Sp01Shadow I must say you know your CZs. They did not fit like I would have liked. Has to do a bit of fitting to the sight to get it to fit in a matter that I was satisfied with. The sight picture is amazing and worth it, but man what a pain in tha arse. Here a shot on my sight picture....

Hey Morbid1X, glad that you got the sights in.  I am curious, where specifically did the sight require fitting?

For what it's worth, I've bought the same Meprolight night sights for several CZ 75 Compacts and my youngest son's CZ 75 SA and not only did they all fit, there was no great difference if POA/POI elevation wise.  These don't hang out over the front/back of the rear sight notch in the slide though.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Had to remove material off of bottom of sight, around the blade portion to clear the rib. I was willing to lose the sight not the slide. Ive installed quite a few sights without buggering anything up and this took a little work to get it where I was satisfied

i have a strange sight combo on my 75b and ran into exactly what the op said.

got the competition rear sight from Dawson and had to remove a fair amount of material from the bottom of the sight (behind the dovetail) so it would clear the top splines of the slide.

It worked, and the sights are great, but it took a fair amount of sanding/fitting

I wish I knew how to post pics, I'd show ya.

Using these modified sights on a 75B with the .150 tall front usually ends up shooting about 6" low at 25 yards and most of the time ends up with a nubby short front sight to regulate the lowered rear.
