[Grip Size Differences] -- CZ 97 vs FNX 45

Does anybody own both the CZ 97 and FNX 45 or has held both for comparison on the grip sizes?  I am looking to purchase another .45 ACP pistol and am interested in the FNX; however, none of my LGSs carry them in stock.

I have been reading that the FNX 45 is a fairly large pistol w/ a large grip.  How would you compare it to the CZ 97?

I have owned both, as far as strictly a grip size comparison if I remember correctly the FN is thicker about same as Glock 21. Not near as ergonomical (is that a word? lol) as the CZ IMO either. The FNX and G21 are long gone from my safe, the 97 has a permanent home.

Thank you for responding, Jigo23!  I have medium-ish hands and find the CZ 97 right on the line of being too big of a grip.  It's not so much the width as it is the depth (from front to back) of the grip.

Do you recall if the front-to-back length is comparable on the FNX?

I got some lok bogies thin grips for the 97b. Helped allow me a more comfortable grip on the pistol for sure, looks way better than the brown ones it came with. Hard to disagree with the fact the 97 has big grip front to back, once you get used to it you will love it

I had one of the FNs and pretty quickly sold it.  I didn't like the feel of the grip or the trigger and found the safety/decocker hard to get used to.  Often when trying to disengage the safety in condition one I would push too far and decock the weapon.  And, I wasn't particularly accurate with the monster FN.

 On the other hand, I love my 97 BE.  I also love my 1911s but that's another discussion.

Between the FN and the 97, its no contest IMO.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.  I had a feeling many would express that they favor the CZ 97 (this is a CZ forum after all), but I truly wanted insight into the grip differences.  They are both fairly large pistols, so I imagine the grips are somewhat similar.  I just wanted a confirmation.  Thanks again everyone!

My cz97 with rubber grips is the same thickness of my fnp 45. Both 1.28 in, or 32.67 mm's.

However the 97 is longer. Cz 97 55.37 mm, or 2.18 in.  The fnp 45 with the largest blackstrap is 2.12 in, or 53.87mm's. 

the fnp 45 seems to be more "blockier" than the cz 97(w/rubbergrips).  In my opinion IF the cz seems to big, the fnp will be worse, even though it is a tiny bit shorter.  Hope that helps
