ITAR items?
« on: August 20, 2017, 04:03:59 AM »
Hi all,

I have a friend flying to the US by soon, and I'd like him to get stuff for me.
I just need to know if mags are ITAR restricted items.

In that case, it'd be for my Glock, ETS mags are really hard to find in France (especially 22 and 30 rounders). And all are a lot cheaper.
The same for my Buckmark (at least half the price I pay over here) and my Savage MkII (close to a third cheapest).

Of course, I stay legal regarding to the French laws, but I don't want him to get troubled at the airport.

Thank's
Ludo

Absolutely an item that cannot be exported. Importing into the US from Germany is a long tedious expensive process, but exporting to Germany is nearly impossible. I know you are in France, but I'm sure the same EU/ITAR regulations apply.
Good luck with your search.

I cannot speak to import regulations to France, but there is a loophole to allow export from the US.

22 CFR 123.17 (a)(1) allows for a registered firearms manufacturer to export to Europe without a license, as long as the wholesale price is not over $100 per transaction.  I think I read that 1 transaction every 2 weeks is permitted, though that is not part of the law.

Requirements are that the exporter be registered with the State Department - and Brownell's is, and they need to file electronic customs declarations.

So if you want to limit yourself to buying no more than 1 or 2 magazines per week, Brownell's might ship it.  If that does not work, contact me directly and I might be able to help.
