P-10 C back strap exchange
« on: August 21, 2017, 12:26:01 AM »
I wanted to try the different back straps on my P-10 while shooting it, but the retaining pin is a PITA to get out. I found that a large round toothpick fits perfectly. After I pushed it in the first time, I broke off the excess and it was easy to remove and replace.  When I settled on the medium back strap, I put the original retaining pin back in the pistol.

I blunted a small drill bit and it makes driving the retaining pin out much easier. I don't know why CZ used such a tiny pin.

Ya, I didn't have anything small enough to drive the pin either but also used a small drill bit, it worked fine.

I see you used a tooth pick, I don't know how the tooth pick did it because the steel drill bit needed to have a hammer to drive it, it was really tight to drive.

I ended up having to use a drill bit and a small hammer.
Now that I have decided on the medium blackstrap it will never be touched again after that torture session.

I'll bet you're exhausted !!!
Then don't ever try to take apart a non Omega pistol, you'll end up shooting yourself with it.

Really DOC 1500 was that really necessary? Some people have a harder time than others. When I first got my P10c I took out that pin,  it was a pain in the butt. Lighten up a little.

You do realize that there might be older guys that own the pistol or disabled as well?  Think before you speak.

If you use a roll pin punch that is a little too small, it will try to expand the toothed roll pin securing the backstrap.

haha jeez great thread.

I took mine out with a 3 or 5/64 punch, can't remember. Went through all that trouble just to conclude that I liked the small the best anyway. The design allows it take a beating though.

Here's a good one......
Bragged to the wife, "Heck, it'll just take a second to pop the pin out, and I'll have the back strap fixed". [emoji15][emoji15]
Lol, never owned a striker before. All my metal framed, and Phantom were sooooo, much easier to work on. Phantom takes seconds to replace the back strap.
Even after working on decockers, I learned a few more choice words taking that pin out. Saw the teeth, went what the heck????!!!
Then immediately went "duh, you dummy, no hammer spring!!"
Yes, I actually talk to myself[emoji87] But it's ok, I only answer myself every so often, and when I do, I tell myself there's nothing wrong with talking with myself. [emoji850][emoji12]

It's a 2mm pin, so it's an oddball size.  Also, mine had some funky serrations/V's cut into it to give it more grip to the frame.

I could have explained my original post MUCH better.  I had the CZ pin removed. Then I used the toothpick to hold the different back straps in place while trying them out.  After I decided which back strap was my favorite, then I replaced the CZ pin.

Ah, now I understand, I couldn't understand how you could use a tooth pick when it took hard raps with a hammer and a steel drill bit to get it out.
