Any decent plastic Scoprion mag holder options?
« on: August 21, 2017, 10:47:12 PM »
I use these for me AR: https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/487901/itw-fastmag-gen-iv-single-magazine-pouch-ar-15-molle-duty-belt-compatible-polymer-black?cm_mmc=pf_ci_google-_-Self-Defense+-+Tactical+Vests+%26+Body+Armor-_-ITW+Military-_-487901&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_OL_menp1QIVEyhpCh1h6wSHEAQYASABEgKDcfD_BwE

Technically, I use the cheap Amazon equivalent. The point is, these things are great. I'll never go back to any kind of fabric-based mag retention. Are there any options for the Scorp that don't cost an arm and a leg? I've googled but haven't found much.

The ITW FastMags are, indeed, pretty awesome for AR magazines. Don't like them so much for pistol magazines and they don't make them for subguns.

The closest I've seen are the eAMP Challenger as sold on Amazon and sometimes eBay. Huckleberry Tactical, sold on eBay, also sells something similar, but looks a bit like Kydex.

I have no first hand experience with either.

Thanks for the suggestions. I feel like the eAMP would be brittle. At least, my experience with 3D printed items is that they are brittle. Also, I don't like that they connect to a belt rather than have MOLLE attachments.

I think I will try the Huckleberry Tactical option and see how that goes. I'll report back once I try them out. Thanks.

I use a Esstac double mag pouch for PCC

https://www.esstac.com/product-page/cz-scorpion-double-midlength-kywi-pouch

I haven?t used this specific pouch, but I have kywi?s in every mag pouch I own. Awesome retention and no bungees required.

I will be getting some of these.

Recently, (this week) picked up a pair of mag carriers. Amazon, IDOGEAR was the seller, they are a combination of a rubber wrap sleeve that retains the mag, a plastic skeleton around the sleeve that gives it rigidity followed by a bungie cord that can be tightened or not to custom fit for your mag. The one I have is designed for any double stack 9mm mags. So far I note really good retention, almost too good, I may apply a bit of armor all to give things a bit of lubrication. They came with an option of attachments, either molle type or a clip on to a belt type. I run a belt when at the range so belt clip on for me. The top is open, no retention on top, just the sticky rubber and tension of the wrapped bungie.

There is a name for these, i think they had been referred to as taco holders, unsure of that. I have seen them used in videos I watch for training drills.

PS, forgot to mention, I have this same style of mag carriers for my AR, I greatly prefer these to a fabric nylon that has no skeleton holding it open and top side retainer bungie that can get in the way.

Tried my scorpion mags in an MPX mag holder - too loose so won't work.

I think I?m going to order some of these. I hate to bother you, but can you tell me specific one you bought?

Bought from Amazon, do a search for mag carrier CZ EVO IDOGEAR. The vendor that will come up is IDOGEAR. He sells some for a MPX and then for the EVO. I ordered for the EVO obviously. Mine arrived quick, they will do the job. Plus, it's Amazon, if you don't like, send them back. About $21 each. they have a snap buckle for a belt or a molle plastic strap for molle.

They are double stack 9mm mag carrier. If you read the questions, someone specifically asks about a CZ EVO fitting and the response is yes. That is the one I bought.

I got mine in the mail today. They're a bit more snug than I expected but overall seem like they're work. Thanks for the recommendation.

What I am finding is that if you leave the mags in the holder, the bungie stretches a bit and makes them a bit looser. You can adjust the bungie almost all the way to give the cord maximum length. Before you do that, try coating the interior of the mag holder with some silicone treatment like MeGuires vinyl and rubber protectant or some type of car interior protectant. i just did it with mine and and the retention is good but the draw a lot nicer.

Thanks, I'll try that. One thing that I'm surprised by is how grippy the rubber material is. Seems like they would be better off using hard plastic (so that it's reasonably slick) and then using the bungies to clamp down on it. That's how some of my other mag holders work, at least.

In any event, I'm going to some pretty hardcore training this weekend, so I'll have a chance to put them through their paces.

I think the first time I saw these was in a YTvideo from T Rex Arms,  the guy's name is Lucas Botkin, I just checked a few on his videos, he is running all kydex, so not sure where I saw them. He is a good shooter, never served, got some skills.
