Very nice nevada72 - like the difference of the bluing between slide and frame!
Thanks! The frame is almost a brownish hue. Very distinctive and unlike any other gun I've owned. There's a bit of a story to this particular gun - I call it my second chance CZ 75 -
Back in the late 80s, my old man had his FFL, and I had bought a number of firearms through him. One of which was a Beretta 92f that he was thoroughly unimpressed with. I thought it was okay, but my experience with auto-loaders was somewhat limited. He was always going on about the CZ75 being infinitely superior to the Beretta. I had never heard of CZ, and knowing everything at that age, I dismissed his "ravings". I bought Glocks, Colts, among other firearms. Some were very good, none were bad. But I was never in love with any of them.
One day I went to my old man's house and he brought out the box you see above. He was beaming with pride. He had finally bought himself a CZ75. Apparently they were fairly hard to come by at the time. I looked it over and tried the action - smooth. The fit and finish of the gun was excellent. He told me all about it and the reasons he thought it was the best DA semi auto made at the time, and this time I listened. He definitely knew his stuff. Sure, it was a lot of opinion. But opinion I had learned to respect. I told him I really liked it a lot and I wouldn't mind having one myself. He went to the gun safe (it was right there in the den), reached in, grabbed something, and tossed an identical box in my lap. "There you go. Now you have one too."
I was blown away. Dad could be very generous - that part was no surprise. But words cannot express how I felt when he gave me that gun. We went to the range shortly thereafter and shot our twin CZ75s. Man......what a gun! Smooth! Accurate. Just felt right.
Time marched on and I started a family of my own. There were tough times having two young kids and going through an electrical apprenticeship. Sometimes it felt impossible to make ends meet. We managed, but it was not without some sacrifice. The CZ75 my Dad gave me being one of those things. I hated to do it, but I did.
Many years passed. My Dad retired to Arkansas. I became a Journeyman Electrician, and then opened my own shop. Life went on. My half brother grew up and the CZ my Dad had was passed on to him. And later, when my brother had struggles of his own, Dad gave him money to get the CZ back. More time went on and my Dad passed. When my sister, who was executor asked what I wanted from his personal belongings, I told her all I wanted was that CZ pistol.
So that's what I got, among other things including Dad's ever present CZ 70 pistol. And there it is for you to see.
