new exchange trigger group has glued in trigger pack screw
« on: September 02, 2017, 02:02:56 PM »
Tried to change the trigger spring and trigger from HBI today on my exchange trigger pack this morning. Come to find out CZ gluded the screw in to keep the trigger pack unremovable like the welded versions. The screw has started to round off with very little effort applied to the brand new allen wrench  :'( :'(. Needless to say not real happy right now. You can see the glue sprean all around the screw in this photo. I will be contacting CZ monday to find out what is up with this since the reason for the exchange was to get USA triggers in our weaponds where we can change things around

If it's just loctite a heatgun or soldering iron would do the trick easy enough to get it soft enough to get to the screw heat.

I'll look this evening. I got the pistol about 2 weeks ago, though.

Loctite blue, if that is what it is, can be removed with methylene chloride paint cleaner. You can also heat it up with a heat gun or soldering iron that exceeds 250 degrees.  I have found an impact gun, like a cordless one, with a correct size bit works very well for stuck screws and bolts.

Small needle nose pliers on the head of the screw and some wheaties. Will come right out!

I hadn't planned to remove my screw (yet) but I did a few minutes ago just to see what was going on.

It's just blue Loctite.  Nor was a it a big deal.

The method that I used was I placed the lower in a small vise and snugged it up so it wouldn't move and was stable (don't go gorilla nuts on it).

Next, I placed a long metric allen wrench in the allen bolt.

Then I got a pair of vise grip and squeezed it onto the top of my allen wrench for a little extra tension, then turned the bolt just a little (to tighten it ever so little even though that contradicts logic).

That method usually weakens the blue Loctite and allows you to unscrew it without damaging soft metal rather easily once you hear it pop the seal and doesn't mess up the allen bolt when you are loosening it.

This method did nothing at all bolt is really glided in there could not move it in either direction even with a pair of vice grips on the Allen wrench

Hmm bad luck man. Mine came out with very little effort when using a 3mm hex wrench.

Drill the head out, replace it with a good bolt from Lowe's, and while you are in there, enjoy a free trigger pack to play with. Mod the hammer hooks, shim the trigger pack, go bananas. That's my plan anyway.

On the bright side, HBI sells a screw and pin upgrade kit for $5 and they are shipping for free this weekend with coupon code FREE LABOR

So if you tear up the screw, no biggie.
