I had a Baikal too, a very accurate gun!
I loved the *clank* sound when releasing the slide! 8o
It made everyone else know, that they had a "russian gun-competitor" close by. ;)

My negative statements too it, is really only that the rearsight unscrews itself during shooting, but not really a big issue, just dip the screw into nailpolish, and it will stick.
And perhaps, that cleaning it with a stick must be done from the front, since the barrel is a part of the frame, and there is no hole in the back of the frame (by the grip) to push a rod through. Besides of that, I really love the spartan craftsmanship regarding the finish and mechanics of it. When looking at it, and feeling it for the first time, I felt it was kind of "blacksmith-beaten-iron" welded together, but the accuracy of it really proved my predjudices wrong!
It is a gun with soul, imho. I used Lapua Master ammunition. It loved it. 8)
The gun is cheap too! :hat

Oh, thank you for bringing us back to original theme :D
Yes, that sound is like reloading miniature shotgun.
I like very much hummer going down instead of common forward.
I'd say it is awesome gun for the money, like Makarov.

You mention it is cheap... how much do they go for? The one time I saw it at a gun show, the guy wanted $700 (not cheap, IMHO).

Those guns were about $450 in stores. So it is cheap for this class competition gun. I trade NIB PCR for used IZH35.

I cannot find them any longer, it may be due to the fact that they are no longer imported.

At $450, I'd pick one of them up in a heartbeat!
