Scorpion Evo pistol accuracy
« on: September 12, 2017, 09:19:21 AM »
Just wondering what people are getting for accuracy out of their SBR or braced Scorpions. I have no pics but I just can't seem to get a good grouping at 50 yards with a red dot.(usually 3 inches with Tulammo or Fed Alum case)

I'd say that is pretty good with a red dot.

It's still a pistol. At 50 yards you aren't going to get much better than that. Maybe with a Scorpion carbine but I doubt you'd do a lot better.

Agree with these guys. I'm getting softball sized groups at 50 with an MRO using S&B 124gr. I don't think ya really need much better then that.

I shoot for bullseye accuracy with all of my guns in my old age. (I used to shoot tactical, but I enjoy the slower pace and challenge of chasing the X ring now).

If im not mistaken, the Scorpion pistol has a 1:9.8 twist rate.  That is prefast but not uncommon. I have found 147grn 9mm stabalize better and will have a marked improvement in accuracy here.  Premium ammo can also make a deference here in a big way. With some work, you can probably half those groups, expecially with a scope or 1MOA dot.

Shooting slower inside of 15yds I can clover a hole with the irons or dot.

At double that and shooting quicker it's about palm sized.

I've found heavier bullets (147gr & 124gr) have been more accurate than 115gr.  I'm zero'd at 25yds and can shoot a raggedy hole the size of a golf ball from a bench.  I can hit mini IPSC steel targets at 30-50 yards fast with no issue.  Pretty accurate for what it is and it's intended purpouse.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm used to shooting rifles so I was trying to get that kind of accuracy at 50 yards even though I know the Evo was not designed for that. I feel much better now with my groupings. Thank you all very much fellas

Benching the gun will prove the mechanical accuracy is there with decent ammo.  It will even do ok with plinking ammo.  I think the Scorpion is above average in general in this category.  (And it's category)

Remember these are pistol bullets and 25/50 is more like 100/200.

The A1's ROF is north of 1100 rpm.  That's MAC like fire rate in a polymer shell the size of an MP.  It's abundantly clear what their intentions were here.

Remember to check your thread protector if you have a newer model with a dual threaded barrel.  It can work itself loose and take rounds floating around inside the flash hider grossly effecting accuracy.

+1 zero at 25 and 4" and 6" plates at 50 are no problem. For a platform based on a pistol round its pretty bleep accurate. CZ deffinatly have their barrel production quality dialed in. The 115grs are fine but accuracy gets wild further out. The scorpion really excels with 124 and 147s.

Are there any aftermarket match grade barrel out that deliver a noticeable improvement yet?

not that I know of, and it'll be hard to squeeze more accuracy out of a 9mm. Not talking match grade boat tailed rifle bullets with matching weights and much higher coefficiency
