This isn't my gun, sadly -- but it's simply the most gorgeous compact CZ I've seen in a quite a while.
A unique gun, too: a highly polished stainless P-01 with safety!! It belongs to a member of a local NC/SC forum. I asked where and how he found it, and part of his explanation and acquisition history follows the photo, below.
I had always wanted an alloy-framed compact with a safety, but would probably settle for one like this, instead. (I had a gorgeous 75B Compact in satin nickel with great grips. I probably posted a picture sometime back...)
]At first, I wasn't sure if it was legit, so I googled the sku, got nothing, called Mr. Eager at CZ (their leo/mil program rep) and queried him about it. Sure enough, he verified they were legit but he didn't know how many were imported.
That particular day, there were at least 15 being auctioned and prices were still reasonable. I went to bed undecided, and got up the next day to a minimum of 10 auctions over $1k.
I searched and searched for one still under $850 and found one mislabeled in the title of the ad so it went unnoticed. By that time, I was most definitely decided lol, and just clicked buy now and paid asking price, which was surprisingly reasonable (sub $700 with shipping and transfer).
I was lucky. Lucky I chose that day to look, lucky I actually had cash, lucky I found an unnoticed one, lucky I have a wife who doesn't care what I buy lol.
With the research I did into it, I saw several estimates on the import numbers, not one of those estimated over 300 imported. At the time, the guys on the CZ forums seemed convinced that was gospel, however, that is far from indisputable.
So, yeah....there's my story of 'accidentally' buying a polished stainless, safety equipped P01 lol.
One quick email to a lady named Esmerelda, she hooked me up with some fantastic cocobolo grips.
