Took new P-07 out for a spin

Just picked up my UG/TB P-07. Only had time for around 50 rounds at the outdoor range this afternoon. Ran great, I liked it. I think it could be a keeper.

Congrats on the new P07!  It took a long time for me to warm up to the P07.  I went for several years avoiding them and then when a nice one was offered by a buddy at a good price, even then I was hesitant.  I bought it thinking that it would make a good gun to swap with my son who was borrowing something I wanted back.  I started shooting it though and quickly came to like it.  As the round count climbed, I came to really like the thing.  Without realizing it, the P07 became my most trusted carry gun last year over a Cajunized Compact 75B, Cajunized P01 and others.  I still liked all of those more, but whenever I was heading out into a sketchy situation, I realized that it was always the P07 that rode on my hip.

They really are underrated guns.  At least they were for me for a long time.

I got mine two years ago this month. It was my first plastic gun, as well as my first 9mm, and first non 1911 handgun. The day I picked it up, I took it straight back to the range and ran a hundred through it. I'd shot a fair number of striker fired plastic double stacks, and always found them challenging to shoot accurately. The first magazine showed me this was the most accurate plastic double stack I'd ever shot. in about six months I had about 1,500 rounds through it. I was shooting it more than my 1911s, lol. It's a lot of fun to shoot. I did swap the decocker out for the safety. Being a 1911 guy, thumb safeties are what I'm used to, and prefer. I'd never carry it, but two years later it still gets range time.

Started to look and see if I'd forgotten I'd posted in this thread.  Then it hit me (the sentence about first plastic gun, etc.) that I'd previously worked through several brands of plastic framed striker fired guns that didn't have the combination of accuracy and reliability that I'd had with my 1911's.

Other that that, your post fits my experience, too.

I wonder: How many CZ nuts are also into 1911s?  That might have been a part of my initial reluctance for embracing the P07.  I've owned 1911s since I started owning handguns and a hammer fired poly gun took a bit for me to wrap my head around.  I'm glad I finally did as the P07 is a winner is one of the favorites for summer carry.

You're going to love the P-09 it's my EDC.
With this pistol I went from being a good shooter to a much better shooter.

I have an appreciation for the 1911 as well, but I have grown to prefer a DA trigger for most "practical" applications.

I've got one stock 1911A1, one Springfield that was a pile of parts with some missing when I rescued it from a pawn shop and built it to a semi-custom.  Then I have a third that I built grime a frame slide and barrel to be my NRA Service Pistol, match gun.  I enjoy shooting them when I do take them out, but I find them heavy for capacity for carry, and with a trigger that is easy to light off but offers little for second chances one the squeeze begins.
