New Member and First time CZ firearm Disappointment
« on: October 09, 2017, 09:12:11 PM »
Hi - new member here

I recently purchased a scorpion pistol with the flash can. This is my first CZ gun. I noticed half the feed ramp is a rust color. Is this rust? Does it need to be polished? I am not sure if it will cause feed issues being I have not shot it.

I would post a pic but don't know how.

Does anyone know what this could be or has experienced this before?

Not sure of the QC CZ has..... :-\ never though I would have to send a gun off 2 days after I buy it new....

If you've never sent a gun back you clearly haven't bought many guns. I've sent back a half dozen brands within 2 days of ownership for various issues.
I'd give the gun a good initial cleaning and go shoot it and see how that goes before I condemned the gun.
If you think there's an issue call CZ-USA and explain it too them. CZ customer service is great so if there is a problem they will take care of it.

clean the weapon and take it to the range and actually operate it as intended (with ammo) and see how it performs.
then form an opinion.

Missing the point... I understand that it probably functions properly. The fact that the feed ramp looks unfinished and/or has rust on it straight out of the box - is an issue. Especially - since I am new to this brand and research did not show up hits......And no I do not expect to have to send back a brand new  reputable source gun within days of purchasing. Seems to me that's not normal what you have experienced.

I heard back from CZ - apparently all new scorpion pistols made will not have a "finished" fully polished feed ramp. It should not affect functionality.

Maybe its cosmoline?  Clean that whole sucka out good, re-lube and shoot.  Otherwise call CZ /email pictures to them for advice.

Not trying to bust your chops, but it is normal. Nothing made by the hand of man is perfect. Whether it says Colt, CZ, Smith and Wesson, Glock, or whatever on the slide, bad ones get out of the factory. I've sent new guns back to the manufacturer once or twice, and I'm sure a fair number of people on this forum have, as well. It's why they come with warranties.

If CZ says it's normal then go shoot the gun and enjoy it. If it does not function properly then call them back.

It'll work fine, clean it and use it, or you could send your perfectly performing firearm to CZ for a few weeks; they will probably be happy to take it, up to you.

Before completing the transfer one should inspect the weapon fully and ask questions before the transfer. If not satisfied do not transfer.

Just a little reassurance bump here. I have a 2017 scorpion carbine.  Daniel from CZ-USA told me what they told you.
And yeah, my feed ramp is not polished all the way down.  Half of the ramp isn't shiny.

I've never had any issues with my many CZs over the years, and this was new to me.  I've also never hesitated to contact CZ about anything, and they get back to me.

Anyhow.  My carbine stamped 2017 has the same feed ramp look you are describing.  I love shooting this carbine.  Enjoy! 8)

Could just be copper rubbed off on the ramp from test firing, or even lubricant. Put a little hops #9 on a qtip and clean it up, then see what you have.

If you are really worried, get a bore scopeand give it a good inspection after a thorough cleaning.

it's probably cosmoline or machine oil. My evo came FULL of a very sticky grease/oil and dripping wet with thin oil... the box was soaked.

clean everything FIRST "as you should always do with a new firearm" re-lube and then test fire. I doubt you'll have any problems. and if it is rust on the ramp a little 800 grit and your good to go.
