New 452 American
« on: January 22, 2018, 06:51:03 PM »
Received my American today from DGS.  Now I have to clean and mount my Leupold. Pictures to follow soon. Looking forward to shooting her. I really enjoy shooting my Trainer but this should be fun for longer distances.

Finally got it cleaned and mounted the scope.
Next is to take it out to Okeechobee sight it in and start having fun.

Wow! You've got two super nice rifles right there. You are a very bad [read good] influence and I am definitely going to have to follow your example  :D

I love using iron sights in general, especially for silhouette, but would also like to get something with a scope; this looks like a perfect plan - Thanks for sharing!

My first thought was to find a used model since new ones are hard to find (at least around here). We'll see...

Enjoy and let us know how it goes at the range.

The last two Thursdays have been great shooting. I noticed today how the bolt has smoothed out after three outings. I really enjoy this kind of bench shooting with the scope.

Sounds like a lot of fun indeed. I?ve been getting out once a week at short range with iron sights trying to learn how to shoot. I?m pretty convinced that once I have a scoped rifle I won?t do much with irons so I?m holding off for now. My budget is also helping me to control my urges  ;D

What's the barrel length and what Leupold did you put on it?

I have a 452 American with a VX2 3-9X33 Leupold scope with JP adaptors and Burris Signature Zee  medium rings. Everything works great together. I choose these since other members directed me to what they had purchased and worked for them.

... a VX2 3-9X33 Leupold ...

I've got three of them and a 1995 version of the same scope, all EFR and A/O with the Fine Duplex Reticle. They're great glass for use in the woods, especially on Squirrels. Now discontinued, a used one (if you can find one) is at least $200 over what they sold for new.
