Upgrade suggestions
« on: November 21, 2017, 11:13:56 PM »
Normally I would just upgrade everything in my guns, but I bought this P07 with the purposes of it being a cheap self defense gun.

However, I've been spoiled by my S2. For the most part, I am okay with the P07, but there are a couple of things I'd like to improve.

1) The SA pull is extremely long and creepy
2) The DA pull is horrendously heavy (long too of course), and it feels stage-y.

In terms of priority, I want to reduce the DA pull first. Are there any ignition issues with an extended FP and say 15# main spring? Or should I stick with the 18#?

I'm a noob when it comes to the Omega system. I've been told that the roller bearing upgrade is a must? I'm trying to avoid the expensive upgrades like the hammer, but I'm considering the SRS.

The best suggestion I can give to you, honestly, is send it to Cajun Gun Works. It will come back amazing.

First and foremost self defense (or competition depending on what you are using it for) spring kit (ie 18 and 15lb hammer spring and the reduced power firing pin spring) $24.00

Reduced power trigger return spring $7.00 (this actually made a surprisingly big difference in trigger pull and you are fixing one of the most vulnerable parts of the P07)

I would add the extended FP, FP spring and FP retaining pin to this. I?ve had zero issues with a 15# HS with this setup.

Throw in the roller to smooth out the DA and apply the trigger bar spring adjustment and you should be golden.

I recently bought a P07 specifically for self defense and tried something a little different with my $100.  I went with the CGW 92000 OEM style hammer, CGW extra heavy sear spring and CGW reduced power trigger return spring.  Did some polishing/fitting and bent the trigger bar spring down a little but left everything else OEM. DA is heavy but smooth, SA is medium and crisp. I'm not sure I will leave it that way, but I currently like it for carry and have shot it successfully in a few indoor matches.

Do you have weights on your trigger pulls? The DA right now is just way too heavy for me, and I can't reliably shoot it (yes i know.. train!).

Also I just want to change out the spring because it's an absolute pain to replace the main spring plug pin with the current weight.

The single biggest thing you can do to reduce trigger pull is put in a lighter hammer spring.  You may need to install the extended firing pin and springs to keep it reliable.  Cajun race hammer gives an extremely good trigger break compared to the stock hammer.

I have two P-09's, one I run an 11lb hammer spring in, DA trigger pull in it is probably around 5 lbs and its totally reliable.  I do reload all of my own ammo and seat primers very deep.  The other I have made into an open race gun and run a 13 lb hammer spring in which is also 100% reliable, DA trigger pull is probably a little over 6lbs.

My DAO-converted P-07 Duty has an awesome 6.5# pull with 100% ignition on everything I've fed it. Main mods were a 13# mainspring and an extended firing pin, all the work compliments of CZ Custom.

9lb 6oz for DA, 3lb 14oz for SA

Just for kicks, I put in an 18lb mainspring and got almost identical results.  This maybe confirms that the newest P07's are not sprung as heavy (main or recoil) as the older versions?

I did put a 15lb mainspring in and got 8lb 5oz DA and 3lb 13oz SA.

For comparison, the P09's I shoot matches with are 6lb 13oz DA and 2lb 14oz SA, but they have all sorts of crap in them.  They light off all the primers, but I am reloading WSP and seating them well.

Anyway, it's kind of just a P07 experiment on my part.  I love the SA of the CGW hammer, and I like a factory sprung gun for self defense so I thought I would try it for a while.

Shot my P07. I really don't like the creepiness of the trigger. I think I might be forced to upgrade the hammer. I would keep pulling the trigger expecting it to go off, but it just doesn't. Maybe I just need to get used to it?

Surprisingly, I actually shot decently with the DA stock. I just couldn't stage the trigger. I think I might just do everything and skip the SRS? I don't feel bothered by the reset length so I don't know if it would be worth it at all for me.

Just decided to do the full dealio since it's not too bad with the 10% discount...

What's the opinion on the SRS? I'm not really bothered by the reset right now so I don't know if it's worth the extra $45 for the SRS.

I was in the same boat - once I had trigger time on a fully upgraded gun there was no going back.

You are getting the ProGrade kit but contemplating dropping the lifter and disconnector?

I say go whole hog... which is, of course, similar to the full dealio but without reservation :)
