It's a 15# main spring. I still finding installing this plug in this gun to be a complete PITA compared to my 85C/S2 even when I used the heavier springs. I don't know what it is about this gun.

I can shoot the DA pretty well still, but my DA isn't pretty even with my tuned S2 (techinque, not the gun).

It could be my imagination but I think the plug on the P-07/P-09 is angled more than I remember the one on my CZ75s being... and it is slick plastic. I agree - it is more of a pain than it should be.

You are all spot on.  Because of the angle and the fact that it is plastic/light and gets turned around when mounting,it is easy to bugger up and not get it lined up right.  CZ replaced mine when they fixed the gun.  If it was slotted, it would be great and easy.

On DA.  I find this gun, despite a heavier feeling pull than my SP 2022, is easy to hit with.  Yesterday I took my son out and I had no time hitting a chest plate sized gong at 12-15 M in DA.  I even fell back to 30 yards and hit it.

I may start a new thread on the pluses and few minuses of this gun.  The shape or the trigger, beavertail, and negligible OT make this thing a pleasure to shoot.  That gong is addictive.

I cannot express how much smoother my DA pull feels now - actually SA too.

So I just bought my first pistol and got a .40 P-07.  I have been looking to upgrade the trigger and I have heard all the CGW reviews and thought I would go with them.  My question is for around my $100 budget is the Short Reset Kit and the "Self Defense spring kit" the best way to go in terms of trigger feel and budget?  I plan on using the pistol for home defense and maybe CC down the road.

I talked to CGW a couple of times, and yes, this is the basic route.  I'd fire at least 500 rounds through the gun, dry fire it a BUNCH before though. This will help show areas that could use a little polishing once you get the gun apart.  DO NOT forget the CGW TRS - ALL CZs should have these regardless.

I believe the SR Kit has a firing pin retaining pin - correct?

So I got all my goodies in for my P-07, I have watched a few videos on installing the upgrades but I had one question. Are the internals the same between the P-09 and 07?  I found a good detailed video installing all the parts I have on a P-09, I assume the process is the same since the parts are interchangeable.

I'm duty bound to point out that what briang2ad said about changing springs affecting the slide and reliability of the pistol is true; that is, if you make any drastic change in spring strength (not slight 1 lb changes). What briang2ad said about a drastically reduced hammer spring sometimes requiring a stronger recoil spring is also true. That is, unless you enjoy greater felt recoil. Perhaps some don't care about the greater wear on their gun, but greater felt recoil makes shooting less fun.

Here's an example. I reduced the strength of my hammer spring on my Bersa TP HC9 (a DA/SA hammer fired pistol similar to what we all know and love). It made the recoil harsh. So I put in a stiffer recoil spring to compensate and now she shoots peachy. Shot her today and she didn't hurt me and I didn't hurt her--but that's because the stiffer recoil spring was matched to the reduced hammer spring.

We all know that if you make the hammer spring too light, you get light strikes. Recoil spring too light, you get hammered instead of the hammer getting hammered. So yeah, drastic spring weight changes really do change the physics of what's going on in yer pistola. The CZechnicians at CZ understand that better than most. But no pistol is exempt from the laws of physics.

I hope you are referring to my videos.  I had to go back and review my own videos when I installed the CGW hammer in my P-07, so I can confirm the P-07 is the same as the P-09.   :) :)
