Ordered an A2 today. Photos and quick review added.

Been looking and lusting after an A2 Commander for some time. Now that all the storm repair bills are paid, I ordered one. I've always preferred A1 or Bob-tail style 1911s so this seems the way to go. Photos will be posted once I get the pistol. Looking forward to another good 1911 to play with.

Agreed......I really like the slight "twist" on a classic design......and the Commander would have been my choice as well!

Got my A2 this afternoon, gave it a clean and lube, now its off to the range, ASAP. I'm impressed with the quality of the build, everything fits tightly and evenly. Cycled with dummy JHP, SWC, and RN ammo, smooth feeding and didn't notice a hitch or glitch. Finish is perfect and the grips look pretty good too. I have a set of Altamont Crocback walnut grips that will likely go on the pistol at some point. The trigger breaks at 4.35 pounds and is very clean and consistent. The arched MSH makes the pistol fit my hand like it was a custom fit. Points very naturally for me too. The trigger reach is, again for me, perfect. I'm really looking forward to running this one through its paces. I've loaded up 200 rounds of 230gr RN plated and picked up boxes of Federal 230gr HST, MagTech 230gr First Defense Bonded, Hornady 185gr Critical Defense, Speer 230gr Gold Dots, and Buffalo Bore 185gr +p Barnes Tac-XP. I usually stick to standard velocity 45ACP ammo for defensive use, but want to test out the Buffalo Bore Tac-XP ammo.

Finally got a chance to shoot today. Did fairly well, shot the A2 at the center of the target, most of the hits outside the main group were second shots of controlled pairs. I rushed and push the pistol down and/or away as I fired the second shot. Total number of rounds through the A2 340.  All shots were at 15 yards. I'm very happy with the A2, I did find that both the factory mags had misfeeds on the first loading, no problems after the first 7 rounds out of each mag. No troubles with Chip McCormick Shooting Star 8 round flush fit or Wilson Combat Service magazines.

The head area shots were from another new addition to the safe, a S&W 431PD 32H&R Mag. total number of rounds through the 431PD 100. Those were fired at 10 yards.

Nice!  I have just under 400 rounds through my Commander A2 and the thing is a tack driver.  It makes it look like I can actually shoot decently well.  I've had no issues with mine at all and I tend to run it with either factory or Wilson Combat mags.

What’s the “twist”? Just that it’s Commander length?
