Does anyone here know anything about this cool looking little carbine? I'd love to add one to my collection. Any input/opinions are welcome.    Jim

I want one too, but I've had three local dealers tell me it's not available in Kalifornia.:\

Well ,that figures. Maybe it needs a green sticker or a spark arrestor or something like that.:rolleyes      Stretch, where abouts in Ca. are you ,if you don't mind my asking.I'm up here in the San Fernando Valley.I know that ALL hanguns must be approved AFTER testing, prior to sale.I just wonder what the reasoning is to make this rifle a NO SALE here?  Thanks.   Jim

I'm in Nor. Cal above Sacramento. The Cx4 is not subject to handgun testing because it's a carbine. It's considered  a Category 3 "assault rifle"-- centerfire, detachable magazine, with protruding hand grip below the action.:rolleyes

There are two versions of the Beretta Storm Carbine.  One that takes CX4 Magazines and one that takes the Beretta 92 magazines.  I would choose the one that takes the Beretta 92 magazines as they are generally cheaper and more plentiful, not to mention that 25 and 30 round versions are available!

Well, thanks for the input, guys.I just can't believe that it is N/A in Ca. (sorry, Stretch). I've never tried to buy an "Assualt Rifle" before,so maybe I'm just ignorant to what is involved. I can't believe that one can buy an AR or even a Ruger carbine in pistol cal.,and not be able to get the Beretta. It just doesn't make sense(to me at least). But then again,a lot of things here in the Republica, don't make sense.  Thanks again.   Jim

Well,I stand corrected. Stretch is right. The little Beretta is NOT for sale in Ca,(sorry I doubted you,Stretch).Wouldn't you know it ? I'll just have to find something else a bit more allowable/legal (much more $$),but the end result is still the same.Honestly,I don't know how some people(bureaucrats) come up with this crap.I guess they really don't get it.  Thanks Guys.    Jim

Well,Stretch,I actually only called one place. The guy there led me to believe that ALL Pistol, gripped semi-autos are lumped together as "assault rifles"now, whether or not they have folding/telescoping stocks. The latter criteria,to my knowledge, WAS the big no-no in semi-autos. I seem to recall, not that long ago either, that I saw ARs/M-16s on the rack at local dearers. If there has been a recent change in the law,it certainly passed right by me. I have a few more places to check.I won't be able to check my best source until the weekend, though. Thanks...Jim

Here's a helpful link for you. It's the California DOJ Firearms
Division website.
ag.ca.gov/firearms/index.html

You'll find a link to the Assault Weapons Identification Guide, and also one for the Roster of Certified Handguns. As if the specific list of banned weapons wasn't bad enough, the Category 3 guidelines get pretty silly.

Well,Stretch,I looked at the link you posted, and it doesn't look good for us.I suppose there is no recourse but to buy something else thats a lot bigger, heavier, and much more expensive.(Springfield, in .308 8) )    . It really isn't right. Keep your powder dry !!  Thanks. Jim

Make sure you vote. Every election matters, from the Gov., to the AG, to your local Sheriff. It's an uphill battle at this point, but not impossible.

Back to the original topic for a minute....

From my reading and also from actual evaluations from some associates with Storms, they are a fun and accurate gun.

Caveats.
The .40 version normally takes the very expensive Cougar mags.  I believe there is a model 96 magazine version.

They are picky about being relatively clean and cool.  The LEO trainiers I hang out with recommend bore-snaking the things every 100ish rounds.  I know of 4 that failed (broke) during intense training exercises when they got too heated and gunked up.
