CZ 75 compact Transformation

So I was working on my restoration Pre B and worked over the beavertail and undercut the trigger guard. It felt so fantastic that I gave in and started working on my CZ 75 Compact....

I started with the beavertail. Then I went to the undercut for the trigger guard. Then I worked the undercut some more. Then Earl and M1A4ME mentioned rounding the trigger guard and I started that too. Here's some pictures of the work to this point. It is still raw and I'm refining some details. But hey, I figured I'd share along the way.

It is the far right in this picture.




Here it was after the beavertail work and with some undercut on the trigger guard.




Here it is with the finishing shape of the undercut for the trigger guard and the rough work for the rounded trigger guard. I figured it would match my Pre B...

Thanks Stuart! Yeah, it helps a lot. I was surprised by how much I could tell the difference from the trigger guard undercut too.

Any suggestions or tips? You've got a little experience at this...

PS - Did you guys at the custom shop get any of these model 99041 pistols? Seems like they may be making production runs of the 99021 since it was well accepted but we can't get ahold of CZ since they're closed for a few weeks.

I have a 1x30 belt sander from harbor freight that I used for just a little of the work on the beavertail. I also used it for rounding the trigger guard, that is where it helped a lot.

I cut thin strips from the belts for the 1x30 belt sander and use those curves inside the beavertail and the bottom /front of the trigger guard. I have some aggressive grits that I can use to really remove material. Think of polishing a shoe with two hands, if that makes sense.

A dremel with the sand paper drums. This was used for the bulk of the trigger guard undercut, some of the shaping of the trigger guard after the belt sander, and for some shaping work on the beavertail.

Some 800 and 1500 grit sand paper for some of the sanding.

Having some issues with AG on the shell for 75 Compact vs a PCR.

A few years ago, I bought an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 for my Shield and an extra shell for my XD Service.  Never used the XD shell, and AG has a free shell trade program so I traded for a "75 Compact (rail-less)" shell.  They said they didn't have a shell for the 75D Compact (PCR) but took a chance that what they sold for the 75 Compact would fit the PCR.

Well, it sorta did, but there was zero accommodation for the slide retaining pin out the right side of the frame.  It hit the top of the shell opening and inserting the pistol from there on in was very problematic.

I'm just curious if the 75 Compact has the same amount of pin sticking out the right side of the frame.

Ahh that makes sense and no worries. The core issue is that the Steel framed 75 Compact has a thinner frame than the PCR. Thereby the slide stop is wider on the PCR to work with the wider frame. I'll still snap a picture when I get home so we can compare. I've talked to Stealthgear before and they recommended using their P-01 holsters for the PCR instead of the holsters for the classic 75 Compact.

Thanks! With all your know how you'll do something incredible! Once I find a way to cerakote I may do this to one of my SP-01 Compacts. I think it has the material that I could get it really close to the SP-01. It would really be like a Shadow 2 Compact! This is tedious work though.

I still may do more to the beavertail. I want it like yours that you had posted early on. That turned out really good looking!

First off, your belt sander looks way nicer than mine!

Secondly, that makes sense with the top of the beavertail. I started working the top of mine too actually. Would you mind posting a picture (or two) of yours again so I can see the top and side angles of how you worked yours?

thats just my bench grinder , but it is an 8 inch that turns really slow around 1100 rpm as opposed to the cheapies that turn 3400.

Here's some pics for what your looking at :





I like to blend everything together , slide sear cage and frame , they aren't that great a fit from the factory .
Another note on that is if you are going to pin or put in set screws in the sear cage you need to do that first and get everything set and locked into place before blending . Also if a new barrel is part of your build that needs to be in first also as it can effect slide to frame position .
