Talon grips
« on: January 06, 2018, 06:36:56 PM »
Anyone here using talon grips on their P09 or P07? Curious your thoughts before I buy a set for my P09.

I?ve got a set of sand on my SIG P320 & like it, but it?s a different gun type and grip angle.  Thinking of getting the rubber version this time

Thanaks in advance

I have the granulate ones on my P09 since it's range and home gun only, I love them. I have the rubber ones on my SR40C for carry, and I love those too.

With the granulate, make no mistake, your hand odes not move around.

I had a set of the rubber ones on my P-07. They lasted for two years or so before the adhesive started to let go. I love the way they feel on the gun, much better than the bare plastic frame. I plan on buying again, but haven't gotten around to it yet. A friend of mine has the abrasive tape version, I don't like them at all. To me, they don't offer much more grip and they just look bad.

I have them on 2 other pistols a Shield and PPQ . Bought for my P-09 but have not put them on yet had to send the pistol back to CZ . I really like them personally . They seem to help me get a better grip... but then it could all be in my mind . I like the rubber ones . :)

Got the rubber ones on both P09s.  Now has a more "efficient" grip, don't know how else to put it.  I know for sure it won't be shifting around in the hands.

When installing, clean area twice, wash hands twice and when test fitting, take note how it will line up parallel to magwell lines.  You can stretch it a little if you start getting crooked.  You can peel off and refit, take your time and it should come out looking like the factory put it on.  I've seen some examples that looked like Ray Charles put it on and the owners were very happy with the results.    ::)

And make sure you have the backstrap on that you are happy with and order appropriate size wrap.

Talon Grips ROCK! You won't be disappointed. Here's my P-07 with Talon Rubber. I also buy their little squares in 'sandpaper' for my smooth metal 75's where I place my thumb forward on frame, or trigger finger rest for secure 'non-slip':

I run them on both of my P07s and my P09.  I don't run them on my P10C as that grip texture provides plenty of grip by itself.  But, the Talon grips are pefect for me on the others.

Up until a hot humid day last summer I never felt the need for anything extra on my P07.  That day the darn pistol was slipping in my sweaty hands every couple of rounds or so.

I ordered a set of the Talon (rubber/sticky/soft) grips for my old DUTY P07 and put them on yesterday.

Had to modify them a little bit.  Got the left side started, realized the right side would not line up properly so I cut the grip (Talon) at the front right corner and installed the left/front of it.  Did the heating/pressing and liked how it molded into the grip panels to show the diagonal lines on the side of the grip.  I did another alcohol clean on the right side (since I'd been handling it) and then installed the right side and saw the back would not line up correctly, so I trimmed it twice to make sure the back piece was centered on the rear of the frame.  Did the hair dryer/heat thing again and once more, the panels pushed right into the grip to show the diagonal lines and even the horizontal lines in the rear piece.

My pistol is black with an FDE cerakoted frame (from the RMR/BUIS milling job at Primary Machine)  The FDE Talon grip makes the frame look good, too.  That two tone look on the frame makes the pistol look pretty good.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Run Talon granulate grips on all my guns, Glock, HK, and now on my new CZ.  Absolutely love them.

Just got into the p series CZs, with a 07 and 09 in Dec and Jan. Added granulate talon grips to both - loved the way the pistol feels and handles with them on.

I did have to sand them down quite a bit to take off some of the grit - it was way too much for drawing from a concealed holster (appendix) and for doing 30+ min off dry practice. I started getting blisters and calluses a little too fast and in bad places. Once I got them knocked down to where I wanted everything has been great.

Until about a 4 nights ago. Was doing my practice and noticed the 07 grip was sliding where my strong hand fingers wrap around the grip. So much so that the grips had already gotten a visible wrinkle. It's been getting worse ever since and I'm sure it will start letting go soon enough. I havent seen anything on the 09 yet. But I'm not too hopeful - if they can't hold up to my usual practice and training for a few months I don't think they are the best option for me. I do handle my guns ALOT, mostly 30-45 min usually 4 or more nights a week. I have a had a talon grip on my glock 43 for almost 2 years. I did have to super glue one spot back down but other than that it's been fine. But I don't handle this gun near as much. I just pulled it off and stippled instead 2 nights ago. I will be doing the same to the 07 and 09 soon.

And yes, on all of them I did - wipe down 2x with alcohol and apply and the heat them for a good 5 minutes after. For other people they may do much better but for me I guess I need something more durable and permanent.
List of guns here?
