The mysterious SAR K2P
« on: January 07, 2018, 06:52:57 PM »
The K2P was made in 2013 only, yet 5 years later they are still readily available and at a great prices. How can this be? I understand that Sarsilmaz is not as well known as many others and maybe they don't market as well as others but did they really manufacture enough K2Ps in one year to still be stocking them in 2018?

I can't speak to how long they were in production, but I'm confused by your definition of 'readily available', virtually every online retailer that Google points to when searching for them shows Out of Stock. When TR Imports became the sole importer for Sarsilmaz EAA began to divest itself of Sarsilmaz firearms, and, as I understand it CDNN bought up their remaining stock. TR Imports did not bring in any K2Ps and since they're no longer in the picture they never will. SAR-USA is now the sole importer and is going to start pushing their products harder at SHOT Show, they will not be bringing in K2Ps. They will, however, be bringing in CM9s (Gen 1) but I'm sure they won't be anywhere near as inexpensive as the remaining K2Ps at CDNN.

I can't add anything to Rabble_Rouser's post, except that WikiArms only turned up two retailers for the K2P. CDNN has them on sale (closeout?) for $250 (https://www.cdnnsports.com/eaa-sar-k2p-9mm.html#.WlMNCPZG1QI), and Kentucky Gun Co lists a K2P/CM9 Compact (no image) at $355 (http://www.kygunco.com/Product/View?ItemNo=97872). If you want one, now looks like the time to buy. I believe I recall reading somewhere that the CM9 was the replacing the K2P. Just me, but I like the grip profile on the K2P much more than the CM9...

If you want an SAR K2P, now is the time to buy!  :)

Even though EAA no longer imports the Sarsilmaz line, their Warranty extends to all Pistol imported by them.

Mine has been excellent, and I've carried it for three Winters and one Summer.  I also, prefer the K2P's Tanfoglio Grip shape, yet I would not let that dissuade me from buying a CM9.

Better hurry, the 'Sale' price jumped up $20 overnight!  https://www.cdnnsports.com/eaa-sar-k2p-9mm.html#.WlPpQXlG272

Grip will not be changing, only the model billboard. Can't post from my Photobucket account anymore but here's the link to the new listing for SAR-USA imported
CM9, search and you'll find the stainless slide model, as well as the B6 and B6 Compact. All will be available with stainless slides as well as black:

The grip already HAS changed.

CM9 Gen2 (Current Production)
I assume SAR USA will sell Gen 1's till supply is exhausted, then sell Gen 2's. Note that where the grip joins the frame has much sharper corners. Also note the finger indents. The indents are a problem for folks like me with my oversized hands and long fingers, whereas the corners are a problem for those with smaller hands who have to stretch the web of their thumb around the grip, into those corners, as well as the indents that won't fit smaller fingers, either. It also has a wider grip profile because of this. These issues make a "natural hold" difficult in either case. That leaves about a third of the market, for whom this is not the optimal pistol.

I had the same problem with PhotoBucket when they changed their terms of use. At least for now, PostImage allows for easy linking. I also often, as above, direct link images from their host.

I liked my SAR K2P so much I bought a 2nd one!  It's without question the best value in a full-size 9mm pistol out there.  Mine have been great.
Unfortunately, I have so many pistols I really don't shoot them anymore.  I've debated selling them, but I'd really only want to sell both b/c I'm weird and always want 2 of any platform I have.  Dilemmas!

I haven't held the CM9, but I do think the K2P design is better.

That's great that SAR USA will be carrying the full line, I like that the 1st gen CM9 (aka K2P) is available again.  I haven't held either the gen 1 or 2 in hand, but it's good to have options.  I don't know that I would like the finger grooves on the gen 2.  Looks like budsgunshop already has several offerings available from SAR USA.

To the OP, just out of curiosity, where did you get the information that the K2P was made for 2013 only?  Below are two images I found of K2Ps I got from a google image search.  One with a 2012 serial number and the other with a 2015 serial number, at least in my understanding of how the turkish serial numbers work.

Good to know how Turkish S/N work. My SAR 2000 Mega is T1102-17xxxxxx, so now I have a proof that it was manufactured in 2017 :) It is interesting that all numbers start with T1102.

As I stated, that's how I understand that it works, not sure if I read it here or on another forum, but it does work right with the Canik and SAR handguns I own.  I'm just guessing, but I'll bet the T1102 is a manufacturer code or something, it is on both of my SAR handguns.

Oh, I see.  I believe that website is mistaken. I obviously could be wrong, but I do think that's how you read the serial number:  T1102 is a nato code or something.  The bolded part of 15C02935 (as in the example pictured above) is the year of manufacture.

As I stated, it's not the first time I have read it but that still doesn't mean that it's accurate.

On my SAR K2-45 the serial number on the frame, slide and barrel of T1102-15Y00xxx.  So I believe that the T1102 only signifies that it was produced by SAR of Turkey.  Probably the 15 indicates the year of mfg.
