Broke the back strap pin on my P10C
« on: January 26, 2018, 11:16:36 AM »
I decided to try to swap the backstrap out to get a feel for how the medium and large inserts felt.  In the process I managed to break the pin.  I got it out and the inserts seem to fit very snugly  but I need a new one.  Can I get these from CZ or would I do better to just make one?

Secondary question....Wouldn't it have made more sense to use a solid 3/32" pin for this application?  This would be compatible with all of the Glock disassembly tools out there and since CZ benchmarked the Glock 19 it would make sense to have commonality?

Thanks,
W

A toothpick will work until you get a new roll pin.   O0

5/64" roll pin is what I replaced my factory pin with (actually mine came from the factory without the backstrap roll pin - and CZ Usa wanted me to send the whole freaking gun back.  They wouldn't send me a pin because they didn't have any, and didn't know what size they are....)

Hope this helps.

cheers

Just call CZ-USA and tell them what happened. They should be able to fix you up. The gun was marketed to be competition for glock not interchangeable with them.

I don't like the OEM pin at all. It's perforated which makes it difficult to remove. Seems like a solution looking for a problem. I replaced mine with a tension pin. Not that I intend to change back straps frequently, but it makes changes much easier.

You could also Dremel the shank off the appropriately sized drill bit.  I did that for a trigger slave pin for my P-series guns.

I can't remember if it was 3/32 or 15/64. I'll try to measure it in the morning. I picked it up at Ace Hardware. The longest they had was 3/4", which is a little shorter than the original but it works fine. None of my punches are long enough to push all the way through so I use a 3/32 drill bit. The OEM pin will spread if you aren't careful pushing it out.

I'm thinking that I'm just going to make my own.  I wasn't terribly impressed with the factory one.

I have no intentions to change the back strap on my P-10 so I will leave well enough alone.
