First trip to range with my new P-01 (99041)

Took my new P-01 (99041) for the first time for some shooting.
Wow !!!!!
I don't know what it is, but I shot that one better than my 75B. Maybe the #13 spring and firing pin that Eastman did for me ?
Talk about smooth shooter. I just love it.
I shot 200 rounds of Blazer Brass 124gr, and had not one single problem.
Given it's only 50 of them out (so far) I thought of storing this gun and making it safe queen.
Hell no !!!! This baby just loves to shoot and will be going with me to many more range trips.
Love it !!!!
Now I understand bragging from guys with 99021. 

Hey Chicago Dude, I?m from Edison Park bro. I have one of these on the way to my FFL. Can you tell what you have done to your so far? I don?t think I will be putting this one away very often, and want to trick it out a bit

This is what I ordered from Cajun Works :

Extended firing Pin (part # 61050) $ 25
Firing pin retaining pin (part # 61100) $ 5
Hs 13 Hammer spring (blue)  $ 14
Stainless Steel Guide Rod (74040) $ 22
FPBS reduced power plunger spring $ 5

After installing all this I have no intentions of doing anything else mechanically to the gun.

It does say "Compact". P-01 is compact. So are PCR and 75D Compact.
Regular 75 doesn't fit compacts.

You can convert these to SAO like a 1911, if you want to stay close to that manual of arms. Are there some specific things that make you not like the striker fired pistols, that you don't want in the CZ Compacts? Or what are some important things you want out of the CZ Compacts? The outcomes people want out of their modifications really drive how important they are to each person. Knowing what you are really looking for can let us lay out the options for you to accomplish those things.

I am not the right guy here for these types of questions. Because, when it comes to knowledge of the guns on this forum, and if here was (say) 100 people, my number here would be somewhere between 98-100. 
Answer Scarlett's questions and he may be able to help you.
But you being from my favorite State (I am old Wolverines fan) - I can give you what I know about myself and not the guns.
I hate striker fired pistols. I will never buy one. Simple as that. 
That being said, when it comes to CZ, I have these guys (see photo bellow). 75B, PCR and P-01.
Love every one of them.
It all depends what you want to do with them. If you want to replace your 1911, your closest thing is 75B.
If you want to carry, pick up PCR.
If you want to carry and at night to hook up the light to the rail, pick up P-01.
No matter what you choose here, you will come out as winner.

Don?t want to hijack the thread but I?m hoping to stay closer to 1911 ergonomics with the Compact, and more than likely will go with a version with safety rather than decocker. I?d also look at safety with more of a ledge so that I can shoot with thumb resting on top of the safety as I do with my 1911..

Not sure about converting to SAO as I didn?t realize that is an option...will study.

In renting a Glock 19x I found that the grip angle didn?t match close enough to my 1911 and that I had to re-aim after bringing up the pistol ? seems like the CZ ergos might get me closer to consistent gun handling..

I think Scarlett is probably a better person to answer your questions but I have some experience in this area.

Using the safety as a thumb platform - The CZ safeties don't pivot from the same place as 1911's so I find that engaging them upwards is a bit of a chore compared to 1911s. I also personally find that I need an extended safety lever if I want to rest my thumb on it (which I do).

Mods:
My favorite mods are to get the Pro package from CGW. This includes pretty much everything you'd need.
I also tend to go SAO on my guns as I have short fingers and struggle to reach the DA trigger position.
For the hell of it, I get a metal guide rod, fiber front and a new rear sight and some reduced recoil springs.

Oh and one more thing. I always polish my CZ's. It makes a huge difference in my opinion. I spend probably 3-4 hours on a gun from start to finish (including CGW parts)

With these mods, all of my CZ's with higher upswept beavertails feel better and shoot better than my 1911's.  (with the exception of the safety. I have not found anything better ergonomically than the 1911 safety)

Alas the money I allocated for the Compact won't hit my account until Wednesday so looks like I'm out of luck on that Gunbroker 99041...I'm kicking myself as I did read the long thread about that unicornish version...that said, apart from the ambi safety (which I DO like as it parallels my DW 1911 Specialist Commander) it's very much like the steel-frame Compact, correct? I know of a couple Compacts near me for under $500, which seems like a good price...

Underwhere, I like all the mods you mention, including sight changes for my old eyes...which extended safety lever would work on a steel frame Compact? And is there a thread about polishing the bits and pieces?

Coming from generally excellent 1911 triggers, I first found the stock CZ triggers mushy, creepy and horrible in comparison.  Ahh, but why then are my CZ groups better than all other 9mms and 40 S&Ws I've tried from many mfgs?  If "combat shooting" the creep is barely noticeable.   If bullseye shooting, one can pull past the creep to a nice crisp break at the end.  At first, I thought the sights were horrible -- smallish and tight.  Despite my aging eyes they work --especially when ignoring the dots.

lMO, whether your intent is fun or SD and after you discover from stick time what needs to be improved will dictate what mods will be appropriate.  My Rami is my primary carry piece and it remains stock, yet puts 147gr HST in fist size groups at 14 yards.  All other CZs shoot 124gr the tightest and have some modest spring changes, except a very much souped up 85B coming home in a few weeks.

I wouldn't worry so much. The 99041 has been for sale since the middle of December and units have not dried up yet. Every day I still see people selling new ones on GunBroker so you'll probably be fine on Thursday.

Trigger Bar (extensively)
Hammer Strut
Hammer Spring outside and inside
Sides of Hammer where it may slide between the frame
Top of hammer where it rides the slide
Hammer pin (goes through the hammer and is the pivot point)
Trigger bar spring
Sides of frame next to the trigger bar
All parts associated with the rail on the slide and the frame
The flat on the slide that the hammer rides on
The firing pin block
The firing pin
The firing pin channel
The guide rod (if metal)
The recoil spring inside and out
The trigger pin (CGW floating trigger pin)
The sear cage
Sear cage pin
The flat part of the frame where the trigger bar rides (under the sear cage)
The sides of the frame that the hammer sits in
I clean up all CGW parts with a very light stone even though I don't think they need it.

Hmmmm there are probably things I missed but you get the drift. Anything that moves that can cause friction I polish up a bit.
