CGW SS Guide Rod wear

It would appear that perhaps your guide rod was not properly heat treated imho. I have owned several guns with Stainless guide rods using both flat and round springs and have never experienced such pronounced wear.

That looks normal.  We have sold several thousand of the SS guide rods and have never had an issue. 

The ID of the flat wire spring is very small, only allowing about .015" of clearance per side on the GR.  So the spring will naturally contact the GR body.

There's simply no reason to heat treat such an item.) look just like that after a few hundred rounds. As I said, it won't constantly wear like that, it will stop eventually. And it's nothing to the point that anything will gouge, nor will any shavings or shards come off the guide rod.

I racked my 2017 P07 by the rear sights with my scale and it took average 14.5 pounds.

Yep! We are seeing the difference between people who grew up with/know and understand firearms and mechanical items and   the newbie crowd who just don't know and get all their info from a not so smart phone.

Whats the pounds rating on this fat guide rod?
I racked my 2017 P07 by the rear sights with my scale and it took average 14.5 pounds.

I'm using a 15 pound spring.

HK and FN for starters just that I'm aware of. Stainless hardened via nitride, ferritic nitrocarburization, QPQ, melonite, etc. Whether it's necessary or not depends on what a person wants. Me, I'll pay $3 extra for a hardened black nitrided guide rod.

When I went to an 11# recoil spring on my Production class 75 Shadow,  the OE stainless guide rod started getting gouges (with sharp edges) on the base of rod.  Turns out that was not uncommon with the light recoil spring and 132 PF reloads. 

Mine looked much worse than yours,  but function was fine.  I went up to a 12# spring and smoothed the cuts down some and it works perfectly.

Your guide rod didn't look bad at all.

Lol what an ignorant thing to say.  You have no clue what my background is.  And I am not questioning the quality of any CGW parts.  I have had nothing but fantastic experience with CHE parts.  I was simply asking if it was normal as I have never seen it before.

Pound rating on a guide rod? How is  pressure put on the rod?
