hammer not falling cajun p07
« on: February 07, 2018, 06:41:56 PM »
hey guys I just got my slide back from primary machine with a sweet RMR, milling, and a comp.

slapped it together and off to the range I went.

everything seemed fine first 100 rounds or so, I had what I thought was a failure to fire, looked at case no imprint on firing pin, loaded it back up pulled trigger went bang. thought it was weird and to make a note but wasn't outlandish.

today I went to zero the RMR, and was having no fires, it turns out the hammer isn't dropping all the way forward, especially from decock'd.

I have the follow CGW parts installed, I'm running the #15 hammer spring #15 recoil spring, and heavier sear spring.

as well as polished trigger bar reduced the tension on trigger bar return spring, and polished pins ala this thread here

http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=66147.0

here is a video demoing the issue.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNsmeL4bk4k&feature=youtu.be

I shot an email over to cajun, but was hoping maybe someone here could give me an idea if its something simple that I'm missing?

thanks in advance.

So I believe I have solved the issue, the trigger bar spring wasn't tensioned enough, i bent it back up a bit and seems to drop hammer now every time.

Glad you found it.

I haven't had that issue yet but I hope to remember your find/fix if I ever do have it.

Thanks for sharing.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

well I think I found a new problem, in the order of a broken trigger return spring/missing trigger return spring.

after bending the trigger bar up, that seemed to fix the hammer drop problems, I headed back to the range today to confirm. put about 50 rounds through de cocking each time and no problems at all. go to load next magazine pull trigger and it sticks to rear, does not return/reset.

i cleared the gun and headed home, after not getting charged for how short of time I was on the range. Once I got home I opened up the slide and there is no trigger return spring, it's gone, and the pin is still in place, I looked for the spring in my bag, can't find it I never saw it fall out or anything.

so I have no idea why the reduced power trigger spring would break, I've dry fired some but I've legit had the pistol 2 days.

this is slightly disheartening considering I wanted to use this as an edc piece, maybe its something I messed up but it's hard to not be a bit down. :-[

Are you 100% sure the RP TRS is the one you installed? Is it possible you removed and reinstalled the original spring? I also feel that it's unlikely for the spring to go missing if it were to break. Do you know if the pin was walking?

uh I guess it's possible I put the stock one in by mistake. I'm uploading a picture now as far as I know the pin never walked I looked at the frame and it was seated normally, I'm uploading a picture.

Take a picture of the spring you have. IIRC, the RP TRS actually looks different than the OEM spring.

Looks to be an OEM spring. I'd talk to David. Very rare to have a RP-TRS break.

HOW in the world could all of those coils break to the point where the spring just falls out.

ok upon close inspection this morning, and much calmer mind the spring could not have broken. it looks like in my haste to polish the parts I took too much off the trigger pin and it walked, someone mentioned in my pictures you can see the pin offset.

this has to be the only thing that could of caused this, I'm almost 100% positive now.

going to call cajun and confirm, should be as simple as a new TRS and pin, and we'll just chock this up to a new level of dumbassery. :-[

That makes a lot more sense. I am a little confused why you polished the trigger pin though. Very little friction there.

Wow, I'm very surprised that CGW would recommend that. And you use 2000 grit too?

When I polish all my stuff, I only use Flitz. Zero sand paper. It's not gonna be as nice as someone who uses sandpaper, but this pretty much guarantees it'll still function.
