Replacing hammer spring only on P-01 99041
« on: February 07, 2018, 10:20:15 PM »
This morning I called CZ-USA, had to leave a message for a call back, then got a call back an hour later.

My question to CZ: Is it OK to replace only the hammer spring and, if yes, what is considered minimum that best ensures reliability?

Answer: Yes, 13# is acceptable without changing anything else

*I am not asking for advice, only would like to know if anyone reading this has replaced the hammer spring only and, if so, what were the results

Thanks

Get the extended FP. Otherwise, get a 15# spring.

I'd give Cajun Gunworks a call.
I believe I did a 13# spring with an extended firing pin. No issues on my 99021. No light strikes.

First thing I did to my 99041.
Replaced the hammer spring (installed blue # 13)  and with the help of member here went ahead and ordered couple of more parts from CGW.
Firing pin Retaining pin (Part # 61100)
Extended firing pin (part # 61050)
Do it right my friend.
I went shooting and WOW. I am doing nothing else to this gun. Maybe sights down the line but mechanically - I am not touching it.
This thing shoots like my full size 75B (if not better).
P.S. I was amazed how chipped  the original retaining pin was on brand new gun that I never shot. I posted this not long ago with the photo.

Thanks for the above info. Just bought a 99041 on GB, and while I am waiting for it placed an order at CGW for the 13# spring, firing pin and retaining pin as above, as well as half checkered cocobolo grips. Can?t wait for it all to show up!

I've gone as low as the 8.5# spring, but started getting light primer strikes so went back to the 11.5# with no issues. (Could probably get away with the 8.5# if I used "good" ammo) This was of course with the firing pin upgrades.

I've used 13# in all my CZs with no other changes and never had a single issue.

13# with the original firing pin... good to know. Especially on a range gun, that would keep the cost down.

Yup, that's what CZ-USA gunsmith told me on the call back

I am aware that you are NOT asking for advice here, but I'll give you one anyway (free of charge)  ;D
I had exactly same situation as you (with having also the PCR) and I replaced parts on both of them.
Look at this tread and you will understand better why.
This pin was pulled out of brand new 99041 that I never fired the shot out of.

Advice always appreciated, whether requested or not.
Looked at the picture in the above thread. Yikes! That doesn?t look too good.
My next CGW order will probably include not just hammer springs, but firing pin and retaining pin for the PCR.
I wonder if the same reasoning at least on the retaining pin would apply to the RAMI BD?
