I recently looked at one of these on sale for $850 which is a lot lower than most places I have seen. Who has experiances with these and what do you think about them? The pistol felt very solid and well made to me even better than my SA 1911s that I like a lot. Reliable? Accurate? Extractor? Please comment.

There is a universal constant in the firearms industry and it goes like this.  Its a simple mathematical formula that every gunowner and every dealer subscribes to, you can pretty much depend on it on the same level as E=MC2.  Here is the formula:

               <<<<<<<SIG=EXCELLENCE>>>>>>>>>>>>>

My personal preference is for the SP2022 in .40SW

The SIG GSRs had a lot of problems when they first came out, but SIG made a concerted effort to get them fixed, etc.

I bought mine used, but virtually unshot.  (It was a very low serial number.)  The guy who bought it was going to use it in competition, gave it to a gunsmith to do mods, and the gunsmith screwed around for about three months and did nothing.  The original owner got a different gun and decided to sell the SIG GSR.

It has been flawless, and very, very well made.  The only negative is that its too heavy for IDPA (at least in sanctioned matches.)  I think I may have the accessory rail on mine machined off, one of these days, and that will probably remove enough weight to make it legal.

Very, very nice, crisp (custom quality) trigger at about 3 pounds.  Absolutely perfect function.  Good looks.  What's not to like.

I paid $900 for mine, and they're now running about $1200, new, if you can get one.   I'd put it right there with most of the Wilson Combat guns in terms of fit and finish and accuracy.  (The Wilson guns are a little bit prettier, though.)

Two of my IDPA club buddies also have them, and think highly of theirs, as well.   CDNN is selling the Novak mags that come with these guns four about $10.  I paid $29 each, for several.  (#$&@!!!)

Lot of stuff about GSRs in sigforum
Check out the 'Sig Pistols' and 'Sig Armorer' threads.

Walt is right, there were a lot QC problems with them when they first came out, but Sig being Sig, they fixed nearly all of them without complaint and now they seem to be as good as all their other weapons. I would buy one, if the price was right, ie. a little cheaper.

Thanks for the replies. The one I looked at seemed very nice nice yet not to tight like a custom one I looked at. I do not know what changed me because I used to be a black plastic guy but I am becoming steel or meatal and wood guy. I am only 33 is that supposed to happen yet. LOL.

I got one a year ago at a great price as Galyan's morphed into Dick's and discontinued handgun sales. I've not shot it all that much - maybe 600 rounds, but it's been utterly reliable. I'm also pleased with accuracy relative to my skills.
