New shadow 2 and upgrades
« on: February 11, 2018, 07:49:01 PM »
I finally got my new shadow 2 last week. Yesterday, I received my CGW parts consisting of the following: 11# recoil spring, reduced power trigger return spring and pin, 11.5# and 13# hammer springs, extended firing pin and spring.

Today, I disassembled the gun and installed the new parts (I used 13# hammer spring). I also polished the components following the Atlas tutorial. So far, I am very satisfied with the results. DA is now 7lbs 12 ozs, SA is now 2lbs 8ozs.

I always like seeing CZ guts. It sounds like the tuning went well. Thank you for the pics.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Installed the orange LOK palm swell checkered grips but I didn?t like the hump at the top. It was interfering with my trigger fir her and my thumb.

So I decided to sand the hump/flare. It felt a lot better in my hands after it was done.

I also installed the 11.5# hammer spring and 10# recoil spring. DA is now 5# 14 ozs, SAis 2# 5 ozs. I went to the range to day and shot some of my reloads and everything went well. No light strikes using Winchester and CCI primers.

Glad to see everything came apart and went back together as it should!  Doesn't always happen this way for me, at least the first time or two around.

I've had to smooth out the 'hump' on both of my Lok grips, as you did.  With a high grip the top of the grips dig into my hand.  Ground them down a bit and now everything is good once again in the CZ world.

Hmmmm...I had to sand down the tops of my LOK palm Swells s well. Maybe a little bit of a redesign is in order on those things.
That hump was ripping apart my thumb on my trigger hand.

I wish I had the know how to break mine down all the way like this and polish parts. I am too much of a coward to attept that
on my own.
make it criminal to own a gun and only criminals will own them

I also sanded the tops of mine down on a 75 Shadow "flush to the frame" so not to interfere with my short trigger finger reach/pull.

Just a lot of patience in polishing the parts and installing the quality parts from CGW  ;D.

I agree that the LoK palm swell needs a redesign. The humps at the top needs to be flattened down so as not to interfere with the thumb and index finger.

Real nice upgrade, like the orange grips!!

Has anyone installed the 75 thin alum grips on the S2?  I'm thinking of getting one and have a few grips laying around.

They'll pretty much be the same as the stock aluminum grips....which for me are too thin on the S2's frame but not on a thicker Tactical Sport's.

I bought and installed this CZ recurve trigger thinking it?ll reduce the DA reach but I didn?t like the result. Here?s a pic of the recurve trigger install.

So I decided to become a blacksmith for a day and heat it up to straighten it so it?ll take the curvature of the tactical sports trigger.

I put a little curve on the tip so it doesn?t hit the trigger guard. Here it is side by side with the original Shadow 2 trigger.

A look at the original Shadow 2 trigger on the gun.

My modified recurve trigger. I sanded and polished the black powder coat to bare metal. You can see that the static position has moved towards the rear and has shortened the DA reach.

I also drilled, tapped and installed a pretravel and over-travel screw.

I like the way it turned out. I did some additional polishing of the internal including the sear and disconnector surfaces while I had the gun apart. DA is very smooth and light at 5 lbs 8.10 ozs while SA is crisp without creep at 2 lbs 3.4 ozs. Reset is very short also.
