My son and I repaired/welded a local range's STAR legs that had the same problem.  They gave us a hat. :D :D
They still wouldn't let me fire my pistol on the 50 yard rifle range :P.

It needed the support to hold one of the legs welded back on. The mount didn't seem strong enough for what it was supporting.
